The Drones are playing one show only at the East Brunswick Hotel on May the 14th, to mark the release of ''Custom Made'', the first of a series from All Tomorrow's Parties (ATP). Though primarily a digital release, 7 inch double-vinyl copies will be available for a short time only, containing among the four tracks, a cover of Charles Aznavour's devastating and disturbingly jovial ''I Drink''. As well as all this launching of things, the band will be playing lots of new tunes from their forthcoming album, due for release later this year. This will be your only opportunity to see The Drones for some time as they leave for the U.S.A in July for three months of corn chips and salsa. Special guests to be announced. Tickets on sale 4th of April.

last week in melbourne i asked missing link if they had any left
they said they had had a few copies in stock, sold out and were having trouble getting more

Hate to say it but last night's gig was ordinary. What's with all the new jazz odyssey songs? I don't fear change but I'm not looking forward to a new Drones record if half of last night's set has anything to go by. Still a top lyricist, though.

I thought it was great. I'll be interested to see how some of the songs evolve in the studio. The mix was at times a bit muddy with some of the acoustic based songs. Or maybe it was because I chose to stand directly infront of the PA.
The band were in a good mood, which was nice to see, passing around a bottle of booze. The thing with their older songs is that they're effortlessly intelligent whilst coming from the gut. The new arrangements were trying too hard. Who knows, they may chop whole sections out come recording time.

i do not like the EBC as a venue/band room. There's no atmosphere! I thought Drones ticked all the boxes and put on a great performance, but it didn't hit me in the heart or chest. and it don't think it was the drones fault.
it was like watchin an mp3 play live, even though it looked like vinyl.
