giantsquid  said about 6 months ago  or at  6:47PM on Wednesday, April 2 2008.

Hey, we have a new album coming out. 7 songs. CD out through Nervous Jerk by mid-Aprl (to coincide with the East Coast dates we are doing with My Disco in Newcastle, Brisbane, Sydney, Canberra) and there is an LP version on Siltbreeze Records available May / June (it'll be about $22 when it is stocked in Missing Link? Cheap)

We shall be launching it at the Toff on the 3rd May, supports yet to be finalised/decided....

Features artwork for those inclined towards my sexy masculine body.

Fabulous Diamonds.

PS. Free Choice AND Downtown both playing over the next month.

Oh, and we play this Friday with Off Minor, Cut Sick, Quebec and The Diamond Sea at the Uniting Church Hall on High St, Northcote.

Excellent quality video of Fab Diamonds live at Super 8 fundraiser
But I just don't understand why it's called a Super 8 fundraiser when they shoot on video.

JunkiePhil  said about 6 months ago:

It's because that was at the show to raise moneys for the actual super 8 footage.
Fab D's were great at that show.
I didn't even watch them, but I was getting well high in the wings listening to it, best thing the whole day.

djbollocks  said about 6 months ago:

Why have a fundraiser to buy incredibly expensive Super 8 film stock when you can shoot on inexpensive video? Just seems silly to me.

But I agree with you Junkie, Fabs were amazing that day.

knomadix  said about 6 months ago:

FAIL.. the fundraiser was to pay for the processing and telecine of the expensive super8 stock that had already been shot over the 4 years previous.

We shot video at both the fundraiser and launch party because it's cheap and immediate and served the purpose.

the choice of super8 versus DV is a question of aesthetic and discipline with regard to the project at hand.

That said FAB DIAMONDS put in a GREAT effort that day and I look forward to hearing their new stuff.

Fabulous Diamonds Farewell Show - Sunday 1st June @ The Tote‏

Melbourne minimal psychedelic youths Fabulous Diamonds dare to go global with the vinyl release of their new album Seven Songs on Siltbreeze and a US tour with skuzz junk Times New Viking and Psychedelic Horseshit. Before departing they explore their otherworldly spirit on stage, with a final headline afternoon BBQ show at the Tote on June 1. Joined by the vintage-toned Crayon Fields, open ended psych rockers Bum Creek, ghostly tribal jammers Paeces and Brit folk-rock recreator KES in trio mode, it’s a community affair. Come early to avoid disappointment. $10 on the door. Doors at 5.30pm.

fab d's on pitckfork's forkcast

No, not Fabolous' ''Diamonds''. Melbourne, Australia's Fabulous Diamonds are the kind of duo who would put back hair on the cover of their self-titled album and not name any of the songs. The kind of duo, in other words, who would chant like munchkin monks about ''acid casualties'' and ''stomach pumps'' and ''local cemeteries hosting witch ceremonies'' over rapidfire tribal drumming on the seventh unnamed track from that self-titled album, slipping the barely changing repetitions of Terry Riley into the stylized empty space of Young Marble Giants beneath a dubby thundercloud of reverb. Drum-machine claps jostle after this opening verse of sorts, the man and woman's voices alternating in calls of ''Apparently.'' The instruments build upon each other just like the layers of percussion, with melodica, electric organ, and alto saxophone (I think) sounding as if they were recently recovered from some haunted traveling circus. The LP, also called Seven Songs, has now arrived in the U.S. on Siltbreeze after an earlier release Down Under via Nervous Jerk, and Fabulous Diamonds are currently touring the U.S. with Columbus' own Times New Viking. This track? Absolutely a girl's BFF.
