Battlestar Galactica - new series

HEB  said about 5 years ago  or at  10:36PM on Tuesday, October 10 2006 in television

Season Two lost its way a bit, but Season Three is back on the ball.

Grim, dark, thoughtful

Suicide bombing, occupying forces, Great Escape style executions, and more complex and layered than ever.

Any fans?

From 3.02 - Precipice

Sharon: How do you know? I mean, how do you really know that you can trust me?
Admiral Adama: I don't. That's what trust is.

ProDelgado  said about 5 years ago:

Yeah, the suicide bomber thing was a great touch by the writers...I'm enjoying it.

The hotties in the show make it more watchable than the originals...

Season 3 opening episode were a bit slow I feel...things starting to ramp up by the end of the 2nd episode...

tinyman  said about 5 years ago:

oh, i now regret not paying more attention earlier. bloody hell, third season already? time sure does fly... could a new comer still follow the story easily or is it pointless to start watching now?

TopherPlus  said about 5 years ago:

Going throught the DVD's now. Watched the miniseries, Season 1 and the first couple of Season 2.

I love how this is everything Star Trek isn't.

Gritty, dark, low-tech. Good story. A sci-fi for people who generally don't like Sci-fi (using my partner as an example)

Lordevilegg  said about 5 years ago:

I find that it lacks a bit of what star trek was. All it is is a drama show carried out in a space setting. There's never any interesting physics, just endless chit chat about democracy and the cylons. I'd like to see it get a little more space tech.

Wonky  said about 5 years ago:

This show is fucking awesome, probably the best drama I've ever seen. I've got to get my fiance into it somehow.

Modi  said about 5 years ago:

Space Opera is the term usually applied, Topher.

HEB  said about 5 years ago:

The original BSG was space opera.
The revival is not

ProDelgado  said about 5 years ago:

Viewing figures for the first episode of Season 3 are 30% less than that for the first episode of Season 2...too dark for people, maybe?

HEB  said about 5 years ago:

No space battles - all grey New Caprica, and interrogation cells

ProDelgado  said about 5 years ago:

I'm sure that the battles will come, it's just guerilla warfare at the minute though.

HEB  said about 5 years ago:

Once the Pegasus and Galactica return

HEB  said about 5 years ago:

C'mon - where's episode 3.03?

HEB  said about 5 years ago:

The sense of impending doom is palpable...

Are ProD and I the only ones who are watching the torrents?

Wonky  said about 5 years ago:

I'm watching, most of my house is watching...

Next week should be fun/tragic.

HEB  said about 5 years ago:

So three in the UK only?
Weird...

Has Channel Ten finished showing Season Two yet?

ProDelgado  said about 5 years ago:

Next episode should be a cracker.

I'm just watching the Virtuality pilot now, written by Ronald D Moore. pretty cool, shame it didn't get picked up for a series, there's some great character development going on. it's a pity they had to fall back on the concept of an evil corporation overshadowing everything, but funny that it's a reality tv program company.
a hybrid of Solaris/2001:/the truman show/that ABC childrens show with evil virtual reality...

slothman  said about 2 years ago:

just started watching season 3. as such i haven't read this thread. but i am enjoying it. fracking gods dammit.

HEB  said about 2 years ago:

When is The Plan being released?
Weird that the film which will tie up all four seasons is being released after the ''complete'' series DVDs...

buffytufnel  said about 2 years ago:

Virtuality was awesome, its hugely fucking a shame if they don't pick it up. I badly want to know what happens next. Script and acting were all well above the standard I would have thought would've been necessary.

mathieson  said about 2 years ago:

I'm kinda excited by The Plan - early Cylon nastiness before the Final 5 freaked them out.

Huge review (or preview) with stills here.

mathieson  said about 2 years ago:

DVD ships from Amazon next Tuesday. God bless the strong Australian dollar.

HEB  said about 2 years ago:

When's the US Broadcast date mathieson?

hughsie  said about 2 years ago:

in flipping ages, it's some time next year. i guess they're going to try and make a mint out of BSG nerds like us buying the dvd.

montyclift  said about 2 years ago:

20 discs of bsg goodness in a biscuit tin appeared on my doorstep today.

now all i need is a ps3 to play the blu-ray discs on....

HEB  said about 2 years ago:

The Plan has hit the torrents

hughsie  said about 2 years ago:

I've got my fortnightly nerd session on tomorrow. We're in for a treat!

mathieson  said about 2 years ago:

The final battle, when they attacked the Cylon base, was unbelievable. Cylon on Cylon fighting, that slow-motion pan across the bridge during the hand to hand combat. Sigh.

But then Starbuck punched in those numbers and the extended ending that I still disapprove of began. Double sigh.

theparisend  said about 2 years ago:

bought the plan on dvd over christmas but only just watched it last night

great to be back in that world agani.

the series feels more like ''something i watched'' now more than ''something i'm living and breathing'' because i really was that into it

but still. well worth watching. lot sof excellent loose ends getting tied up and brilliant work from dean stockwell, as always

US SyFy has announced that the second half of Season One of Caprica won't be screened until January 2011. Motherfrakkers!

Woo-hoo (ish)

NEW YORK - September 9, 2010 - The highly anticipated return of Syfy's critically-acclaimed series Caprica will come even sooner than anticipated. The second half of season one will now premiere on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at 10:00PM ET/PT, the channel announced today. Fans will no longer have to wait until January to watch the series exciting kick-off, as the citizens of Caprica deal with the chaotic aftermath of the mid-season finale's harrowing events.

The second half of season one will transport us from stunningly vivid, twisted Virtual realities to the fascinating outer worlds of the 12 Colonies. Along the way, revolutionary tensions rise, family power shifts and our characters grapple with the physical and emotional consequences of their questionable decisions. As the season races towards its stunning conclusion, each episode lays the groundwork for the inevitable (and brutal) clash between the new Cylon race and its human creators.
