Listening to this right now.

Why? and cLOUDDEAD come to mind.

knomadix  said about 5 years ago:

Yep, why? is great.

hiponion  said about 5 years ago:

Why? is great, clOUDDEAD is great, Edan is great, Cannibal Ox is great, Aesop Rock is mostly great, El-P's album is great, Common is great, etc

SVG  said about 5 years ago:

A-trak, Blackstar and/or Mos Def.

Another vote for Common's latest.

Also, MF Doom is indie hip hop, imo.

Immortal Technique? eh? eh? maybe not...

hiponion  said about 5 years ago:

oh yeah, Kool Keith and MF Doom have made great albums.

JScales  said about 5 years ago:

Yup. Danger Doom, Madvillain, Common all good too. Beasties, of course.

SVG  said about 5 years ago:

where did the roots go?

thenewmeatloaf  said about 5 years ago:

Ah, there, now - do you see what you did? You used the words "good" and "hip-hop" in the same sentence. That's what they call an oxymoron....

knomadix  said about 5 years ago:

okay, how about NEW stuff... everyone is aware of j5, outkast etc..

I'll drop Soso and Brad Hamers to the new list.

JScales  said about 5 years ago:

New Meat Loaf can eat my balls.

thenewmeatloaf  said about 5 years ago:

get_japed  said about 5 years ago:

ooh - haven't heard Cage in a long time.

kitty magic  said about 1 year ago:

umm ROSETTA STONED!!!!!

knomadix  said about 1 year ago:

^ that cage album is all about his time in a mental institution.

moo-core  said about 1 year ago:

That Cage album is pretty rad. Great dark overtones all through the album.

Arthurly  said about 1 year ago:

Wow - listening to some early Dudley Perkins. Before he fell off a bit, Dudley was the shit. What a voice.

Arthurly  said about 1 year ago:

here's a dope Stones Throw mix with some vintage Dudley and a rare Lootpack radio spot freestyle on board.

''delving further into the hip hop crates for a stack ‘o’ Stones Throw label gems, rarities and funky joints. Madlib, YNQ, Lootpack, Planet Asia, Peanut Butter Wolf and many more – don’t forget to bug out.''

Here's some Hindi hip hop. I wouldn't quite call it good though.

knomadix  said about 1 year ago:

I've been checking these king of the dot battles ever since I went there in 2007. Not amazing but a crazy little scene they have going on if you like watching pumped up hip-hop/rap nerds abusing each other..

single battle
mash-up

Arthurly  said about 1 year ago:

hey knomadix - you frequent Stealth boards as well yeah?

knomadix  said about 1 year ago:

nope.. haven't been on stealth

knomadix  said about 1 year ago:

Used to LOVE the battles at the Hydey in perth in the day.
gets a bit old when you can't move past physical abuse though.. if you're gonna slay someone you have to use some brains.

hellosQuare  said about 1 year ago:

anyone heard the new young jazz rebels by madlib? not sure if that counts as hip-hop but great rolling spiritual free jazz vibes all over it.
also, what do people think of that oz mc ivens? i've not heard his stuff but i hear it's kinda on the same wavelength as dalek and noticed he's doing stuff with that noise outfit occult blood etc etc. any more info would help!

'Indie Hip Hop' that term makes me sick.

Might as well say I want em black, just not too black

Sensor your niggas so they all come across as 'uncle toms' like Will Smith.

''and underground labels know that I don't trust you
your only independent till your major, so fuck you''

mallblimps  said about 1 year ago:

hey it's ok I have preconceptions too, it's short for independent, not anticon inland poetry college.

Mo  said about 1 year ago:

for me - apart from wussy dudes with guitars strapped too high

Indie will always mean Independent

not some type of marketing speak for ''alternative shite''
