organising more than one show per weekend is proving to be extremely problematic and difficult.

we had another 3 shows booked for a tour in august, friday in sydney, saturday in woolongong, and sunday in sydney.

when the friday night venue heard about our sunday gig, they cancelled the booking. this seems pretty common in sydney. i don't really get it. here in melbourne, touring bands don't have these problems. this august tour may still happen if we can sort this mess out. if anyone has any ideas please pm me.

Dude, that's crap. You coulda easily done the Oxford on the Friday and then came to Sydney and done the Empire on the Saturday. Especially on this tour when you're supporting the Kelpies who'll get a coupla hundred on their own at the Empire. Of course you can have your own show in those circumstances.

there is no rule. plenty of touring bands have played more than one show a weekend in sydney - same as they do in melbourne.

scenario: if I wanted to headline pony + ding dong + greenroom three nights in a row i'm sure i'd be told "no dice". same in sydney if a band wants to headline hoey + speccers + excelsior

I'm standing by everything I have said in this thread. I'm sorry if you didn't like my response to your suggestion that I was talking "plain bullshit" (I don't know how to bold it, either). The fact of the matter is that NOTHING was directly aimed at you prior to you telling me I was talking plain bullshit. It was just a general discussion on gigs in Sydney and that Scallywag and I believed they could have gotten more as exampled by the ECSR's last time in Sydney. ergh. against my better judgement but anyway:

i guess, we're just a bit spoilt and generally don't have to work too hard to get shows regularly in melbourne. but then organising a bunch of shows in sydney always seems kinda difficult, so maybe we don't try hard enough but we're all pretty busy with our lives etc and i guess it seems it's just not worth the extra effort to make it happen. despite people trying to help us out etc, this is the first time we've actually managed to get up there. sorry if doing just one show isn't "good enough" for ya's , but it kinda fell into place easilly, we got a gig and some cheap flights, seemed like a good idea. so hopefully people who have been sooking about us not playing up there yet can get along to the show. if not, i'm sure we'll get up there again soon enough.

having said all that, it's not like we're sitting on our asses down here expecting people up there to organise everything for us. we really appreciate the effort that people have gone to , helping us try to organise some shows, but as it stands, this is the only one that's come off, to date. but like i said, i'm sure there'll be more to come. i just hope all the bullshit in this thread hasn't turned people off too much. all i said was that organise shows was proving to be "problematic". and yes, someone cancelled a booking. it's not like i attacked the whole fucking city of sydney or anything. i love going up there to play and see my buddies. i do it all the time, just not with this band yet!

so anyway, i guess this is a perfect example of what i hate about message boards / internet forums, especially this one.

voxfuzz asked a question, instead of just answering with a yes / no i expanded on it a bit and unintentionally caused a shit fight. seems you need to be pretty carefull what you say, and how you say it, around here. guess i should have learnt that by now, but there ya go. anyway clearly this sort of thread doesn’t reflect well on me personally, or the band.

i certainly didn’t think this thread would cause such a ruckus. i didn’t know all the facts so i kept it pretty vague, i was kinda trying not to say the wrong thing- clearly i failed.. . anyway i’m sorry if i offended anyone. but i mean, we’re just a little band from melbourne trying to book some shows, i don’t see what the drama is. fuck we’re hardly that important.

anyway, thanks to all the folks on here that’ve come along to our gigs. don’t forget about us, please remember to check the myspace page every now and again to see what shows are coming up. or, hopefully there’ll still be the occasional tbtt gig thread here, just won’t be started by me.
