so listening to toshack highway at the moment and really last train to satansville is a corker of a song.

amen!
anyone got the new toshack 7" yet??
nope just got no2
whats the new one called?
seconded... not that their other songs aren't fabulous, cause they are..
mezcal head is one of the bestest driving albums EVER!
Son Of Mustang Ford; Rave Down. YEAH.
i agree supercute, even though i don't drive. it's where my love of swervedriver began.
oh hey, maybe cos it's not out. derrrr.
A brand-spanking new 45 RPM seven inch Toshack Highway single (on clear vinyl) will be available very soon from the shop at:www.toshackhighway.com, at the forthcoming Canadian dates and from the good folks at Black Mountain records (www.blackmountainmusic.ca).
Syd's Eyes is the a-side and Silver Freight Train can be found on the flip.
This was a weird one in that the Syd song was written and recorded a couple of months back and then the week before entering Stratosphere Sound studios in Manhattan to lay down drums and mix, Syd Barrett, the subject of the song, left us all in the past tense.. so this is our vinyl eulogy for Cambridge's finest.
Anyway I'm pretty chuffed about how it turned out - even though we had to figure out what Syd would've done rather than what Syd would do - not least because it's the very first time that I've played drums on a proper recording!
Mixed by the bold hands of TJ Doherty who recorded the latest Sonic Youth album we give you Syd - One Last Hurrah!
Hurrah!
Adam x
Mezcal's my fave, but dudes'd have trouble doing too much wrong.
mustang ford take me far away...
that split ep with sianspheric is great yep
anyone catch them at the metro 6 yrs ago?
nag champa anyone?
yeah, mezcal for mine too, but i can't go past their b-sides.
at the moment i'm thinking 'cars converge on paris' is truly one of the best songs ever written.
if i sound like a wanker, it's cause i am!
'Raise'...it's all about 'Raise'.
LOADIE - no. and now let's never speak of it again.
yes, i second the Raise vote.
worse production, but better songs.
although i think duress might be my fav.
i've seen em in 95, 98 and twice in 99 or whenever the godawful powderfinger tour was.
the only one i missed was the globe in 97 cause i was too afraid to sneak in as a 17yo.
SIANSPHERIC ARE ONE OF THE BEST BANDS IN THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE!!!!
that split is their real mellow side. check out "the sound of the colour of the sun" - this is easily in my top 10 records of all time. real dynamic storm-era verve on an acid valium cocktail. glorious!
you can download Yah!
acid-valium cocktail hmmm.....
might have to check that one out.
I love Raise! Can't wait til I get a record player again so I can play it over and over again.
Who here went to the Narrabeen Sands gig in 1995? I think they played the Metro as well but my memory is useless, I remember meeting them at Waterfront and getting my copy of Raise signed.

I preferred the sound in Melbourne, but still loved Sydney show. How could I not? Man, the Corner was CHOCKERS. Tried to go out the front to watch, but literally could not move in there! Two mindblowing shows, and it was such an amazing pleasure to play with those guys. They were nice enough to watch us both nights too! Beached totally kicked arse. I really love those guys! I must say, lying on my back on the floor eating a samosa listening to Duress being soundchecked and feeling it through the floor was one of the high points of my life (even if it did result in mild indigestion).
Everyone was so lovely and so many friends were there. It was just a dream couple of shows! More! Again!
It was really nice to meet you, Tugboat. I hope we can have a meal soon! (I made a specific detour to LOTF for hungover greaseball food on the way back this morn, 'chicken' burger and choc/apricot cookie both a massive thumbs down. Bummer!)
*Beaches, der. Such an awesome band, and the dudiest of dudes!
Wow! Good stuff!
Oh TR, nice to meet you too. Next time we should have this mid price yummy banquet with Dickslap and The Funtimes! Choc/Apricot cookie sucks but i looooooooove 'chicken' bruger
Oh, check out this Swervie video I told in London last year:

sweet gig, laurels were great as usual. the swerve sounded solid to me, frontish/middle, could hear adam & jimmy perfectly. remember duel in particular sounding incredible, surprised how close it was to the record even with those twinkly nuances. wish they had of thrown in satansville/killthesuperheroes and a couple others, but what can ya do.
Swervies pulled a sweet gig at the Espy.

wow - really great photos Carbie
so much sweat! nice shots carbie
i have to say though, whilst i enjoy checking your stills, when you do your seasick twisty thing smack bang centre stage with the video camera it's really distracting. just sayin'. can't imagine what it must be like for the band.
soooo ..... any boots popped up anywhere? would love to hear one of the interstate shows.
Sidenote: pretty bummed that they didn't do the double-time breakdown during 'Son Of Mustang Ford'. At least not at the Brisbane show.
Great footage Carbie!
Hey Transient...I also felt priveleged to see the soundcheck version of duress...sans samosa.
Great to meet you all, your show was awesome. Hope to be able to mix you next time ;)
Haha, wow, the internet, eh?
Thanks again, I hope we got your number, you worked wonders, will totally give you a call next time and I'll remember to check for with you for orders at the curry house too!
yeah - i don't think I've ever seen them do that actually! nobody seems to notice but I even remember seeing them in 96 or something and they weren't doing it then either
Ben from Warped was standing near me and he noticed.
pretty bummed that they didn't do the double-time breakdown during 'Son Of Mustang Ford'.
I don't think they even did it the first time they toured.
I was at the gig with Ubu and Snoozer and we were saying to each other ''wait for it... wait for iiit....'' and then ''awww....'' when there was no breakdown.
awesome show in perth! when Adam said 'this next songs called duress', i think my heart skipped a beat. bit bummed they skipped over never lose that feeling, but we got 2 encores. over all, brilliant.
wow ironmic - so cool. sounds like there were no dud shows. these guys are class.
Duress! Lucky. Hope someone recorded/filmed it
here's a boot from the Brisbane show. there were apparently some issues with the recording device, so there are quite a few bits of some songs missing.
