it has been a good year for Edmund

HEB  said about 5 years ago:

Anyone know who's in the live act for these shows?

VoxFuzz  said about 5 years ago:

It's Ed & Jeff + Pete Oxley in Sydney.

questionmark  said about 5 years ago:

sorry HEB I didn't realise you'd already posted the myspace link. something approaching a full band would be nice!

From MySpace...
And now, this November, some 16 months after that first East Coast residency, Ed (and most times Jeffrey, and sometimes Peter) will again take on the challenge. Expect the hits, more choice covers, and some new material too as Ed begins the writing process for his follow up to 2001's Smile, Pacific.

Tickets for all shows are on sale Monday 16th October - except the Brisbane shows which feature Ed Kuepper in solo mode, and are free, and in limited capacity, in which case you better get there pretty early on the night or rue a missed opportunity..

the NSC shows are on sale today!

kuroneko  said about 5 years ago:

pretty sure those NSC shows are just Ed & Jeffrey, no Peter.

NSC  said about 5 years ago:

Ed & Jeffrey shows start at NSC this Thursday!

__v  said about 5 years ago:

Excellent chance to see two proper deadset legends being legendary.

kuroneko  said about 5 years ago:

or as Ed likes to call himself, the Notorious Bully.

kuroneko  said about 5 years ago:

the grumpy old man starts at NSC tonite. Tickets still available.

NSC  said about 5 years ago:

another chance this Thursday:

The last two years have been some of the most pro-active of Ed Kuepper’s thirty year career. Weaving in and around re-releases from his former seminal outfits The Saints and The Laughing Clowns, as well as solo output, was an invigorated live career, this time featuring Ed and his former drummer from the Laughing Clowns, Mr Jeffrey Wegener. As a duo, they took on a tri-city residency in Brisbane, Sydney & Melbourne. It was an inspired move, with full houses aplenty as Ed and co wove their magic over two sets every night. And now some sixteen months after that first residency, Ed and Jeffrey return to the NSC to take on the residency challenge. Expect the hits, more choice covers, and some new material too.

__v  said about 5 years ago:

was in awesome form last week

great new songs.
great old songs.

the best drumming you'll ever see, maybe.

some pretty fair guitar action, also.

andyr  said about 5 years ago:

Going to try to make Vanguard show tomorrow. Yay!

NSC  said about 5 years ago:

tonite @ NSC. $20 at the door. Yell out requests!

apparently this lot has almost sold out on pre-orders

noneabove  said about 1 year ago:

Pity. I have no money at all at the moment. :/

noneabove  said about 1 year ago:

I remember interviewing Ed and saying that his early nineties period was surely unsustainably prolific, and he said that if he'd had the funds or it was cheaper to do so, he'd probably put out a weekly bulletin of work rather than release albums.

Now he seems close to being able to do that and I can't afford to buy the bloody things. Typical.

ghostofbarry  said about 1 year ago:

I'm fascinated by the tiny amps they've used. Can a gear geek explain these choices?

Low wattage amps can give really awesome results at volumes that are more compatible with the mics used in most studios. Unlike some really big loud amps you see used at shows.

Looks like there might be a few vintage or re-release Fender Tweed Deluxe's there. I played a late 50's or early 60's one of these once and it was hands down the best guitar tone I've ever heard. Think Neil Young at his best.

Possibly a couple of vintage Gibson's there too, but I know less about these...

__v  said about 1 year ago:

wow, the ascension academy is great - i have not always been convinced by EK's excursions into less organic soundscapery (cf his 90s instrumental albums) but this is fantastic - great contributions from louise elliot, alister spence and what sounds like an (uncredited) jeff wegener rummaging around underneath

live at the judith wright centre is killer as well, i'd forgotten just how kickass the jean lee stuff sounded with the horn section

I think I read somewhere that Led Zep albums were all done on tiny wattage amps, which is funny considering the amount of RAWK SHRED POWAH involved.

noneabove  said about 1 year ago:

The Pignose, apparently, which has a lot of fidelity at high volume for a battery driven amp.

__v  said about 1 year ago:

anyone go last night?

noneabove  said about 1 year ago:

It was listed as $40, so I had to bail on it, which is kind of shit, really.

__v  said about 1 year ago:

shame. i think the upcoming sydney one is $25 or so, which is probably more realistic. wonder if we'll get john willsteed.

Dogbastard  said about 1 year ago:

Saw EK on a songwriting panel at Big Sound last week, alongside Dave Faulkner, Brian Ritchie, Ben Salter and Jake Stone. He was in fine form, in just the way you'd expect in that company.

noneabove  said about 1 year ago:

Did Salter gush over him in the way I'd expect?

Godzilla  said about 1 year ago:

I was in Bunnings yesterday and they played The way I made you feel over the muzac system.

Dogbastard  said about 1 year ago:

There was a bit of the expected Salty gushing but he held his own. Better was Ed putting the puppy Stone back into his box.

looch  said about 1 year ago:

Playing tonight in Sydney (with Peter Oxley) at The Rose in Eskineville supporting Reno Nevada

__v  said about 1 year ago:

Cripes. Any idea of times?

looch  said about 1 year ago:

Im guessing that Reno Nevada will do 2 sets with Kuepper doing one in the middle. (a complete guess). So I reckon Kuepper at 9ish

looch  said about 1 year ago:

PS FREE to boot !

__v  said about 1 year ago:

thanks looch, might wander down

duckdogtwo  said about 2 months ago:
