geez this was an oversight! top band. their debut album is always on high rotation at hacienda de la paulie.
I love this band, and despite being broke, I was thinking about seeing them on their October tour. Then I saw that The Valentinos were the support and nixed the idea.
i wrote a church appreciation thread on the other site. Big fan.
I heard they were crap live. is that a lie?
Last tour was fabulous!!!
Best ever Church tours:
Remote Luxury with Craig Hooper
After Everything, Now This with David Lane
I've seen them 3 times live and loved them every time. Might have to shell out for the upcoming tour.
When are they playing?

I wonder whether he'll play stuff off art attack?
Man, I saw the Church live soooo many times, up until Ploog left the band, and they were never less than amazing. (Although as mentioned on the relevant thread, I did fall asleep during their set the first time I saw 'em...) I once witnessed them bring the entire audience to a collective aural orgasm during When You Were Mine. No kidding, I've never seen a crowd go nuts like that!
Saw them twice post-Ploog and somehow it just wasn't the same. I think the Killer Bee was getting seriously into the horse by then.
always a good band, but far better before they recruited Rohan from the Elton Jack band as a stand-in guitarist. that woosey fuckin blouse ought to stick to his North Sydney cover band.
tickets for the NSC show go on sale on Monday 13th Nov, dirt cheap at $17+bf.
'SK v MWP’ (STEVE KILBEY and MARTY WILLSON-PIPER from THE CHURCH)

Best known for the shimmering ‘Under the Milky Way’, The Church combined the jangling guitar pop of 60s icons like the Byrds with the opaque wordplay of frontman Steve Kilbey to create a lush, melancholy brand of neo-psychedelia rich in texture and melody. Founding members Steve Kilbey and Marty Willson-Piper will be playing together in a rare performance of both their respective solo works and much-loved Church favourites. Will it be acoustic, electric, twelve strings at the ready, spark vs the blessed one? You’ll have to go see them to find out.
on sale today!
ooh! i shall be there

Does anyone know playing times? Nothing on Forum website.
Went to the Sydney show - was fantastic. Very early start ie 7.30 or so. Imagine Forum would be similar.
pretty sure it starts at 7:30 tonight.can't wait to hear Priest=Aura live.
Great, thanks Looch and Tiger Tiger. And ditto re: Priest = Aura!
add another to the Priest = Aura list. And Untitled #23 should be pretty bloody amazing too...
Having never seen the church live before I'm really looking to hearing Under The Milky Way as well...
you're in for a treat, nedb! they're in rare form.
Up until this morning, the Forum website was saying doors at 7.45pm, show starting at 8.30pm. It wouldn't be the first time, however, that the Forum has changed the starting times on the day of the event.
The tickets say ''Doors 7.30''.
I'll be pissed if they start before 8...
I'll be in my seat by 7.30pm going by whats on their facebook page, website and from whats happen for all the other shows theyve done...
dude on facebook: ''what time to the boys come on stage in Melbourne on Friday night?''
The Church Band: ''7.30pm''
hope you catch'em on a good night nedb, over the years i've found them to be a bit hit and miss but in saying that i do lov'em.
Was awesome...
yep. sure was. for my money Starfish set was the winner. MWP was feelin' it!
untitled #23 took best on ground honours for me last night, but the whole show was pretty sublime. Gig of the year...
How good is Space Saviour live !! Its bloody good.
Space Saviour, On Angel Street, Sunken Sun, Anchorage. Worth the ticket price right there...
For mine, Priest = Aura killed it. That said, there wasn't a weak link all night. Love Steve Kilbey's white boy dance moves.
The beefy guitar from Marty in 'On Angel Street' was fricken ace. And Steve's performance of 'Anchorage' was stunning.... Great stuff.
While I love P=A the album and was thrilled they played it, I don't think it's a real ''concert'' piece somehow.
Starfish, on the other hand... pure magic.
it was fucking awesome is all i can say. a top night. i don't know how anyone managed to stay in their seats though, i had a great seat but i couldn't sit down by the time priest=aura started and had to stand up on the side (and thank you the forum staff who didn't bother to be dicks about it, because so many venues would've )
I fear I may have missed this. Will they do any more shows?
Marty Willson-Piper on tonight at The Toff In Town! Playing songs off his various solo projects.
