I remember 5 years ago I was watching "When we were kings" on abc...or was it sbs?

and the titles on the screen came up "World Trade Centre gets hit by plane"
Turned to the news and blah blah blah

The next day at work I put up with morons speaking moronic banter for the next 6 months.

wipey  said about 5 years ago:

but condolenses and all that to the victims of 9/11

MattuS  said about 5 years ago:

Oh, it's my cousin Lukes Birthday!

Modi  said about 5 years ago:

More importantly, as of today, the trams now run until 2am on weekends.

Why they would start doing something that only applies on weekends at the beginning of the week is beyond my ken.

SheikYerbouti  said about 5 years ago:

I flew into NYC on Sept 11 2003, best arrival ever, the planes and airports were virtually empty!

nerdalert  said about 5 years ago:

I visited NYC in Sept last year and they had just that day, discovered human remains near the WTC site. Anyway, in true American style, they're buildling the Freedom Towers there--bigger and stronger than before!

juicenewton*  said about 5 years ago:

I was supposed to be on Sale of the Century on Sept 12th 2001, but then I was bumped for never ending news reports and my show was instead played on the following Saturday night. Fucken Osama, ruining my quiz show glory.

Kristy  said about 5 years ago:

i was at a terrible cult like talk thing (landmark) a "friend" had roped me into going. by a group called "Landmark".
After what felt like forever we were released, i was relived. The main preacher/keynote speaker (who was from New York) was standing in the hall, She was on the phone freaking out.

i got a lift home, turned the tv on and found that the first plane had crashed into the building, i went and woke my dad up, he just grumbled so i went back to th tv and watched for a while, i went to bed. when i woke up, dad was watching the tv, and filled me in on the second plane. it was pretty frightening.

Ron  said about 5 years ago:

Ha ha, that's very funny, juicenewton*.

YOU LET THE TERRORISTS WIN!

BurtBacharach  said about 5 years ago:

We were rehearsing at Troy Horse and when Tanith came to give us our 'ten minutes' to the end, she said that a plane had gone into the WTC. Then we stood in front of the TV at Troy with all the other bands rehearsing that night watching it happen.

bumcheeksinthewind  said about 5 years ago:

i watched it on tv all night.... hugging my mate thinking it was the world was going to end... and i hadn't finished GTA.

the most surreal bit was when the second plane hit live and the news reader said "that must be a different angle again" and it showed both towers on fire. and then she realised.

the power of 666  said about 5 years ago:

I just work up and im already an hour and a half late for work.

freaksandgeeks  said about 5 years ago:

i heard it on the radio when I was half asleep in bed and thought it was a joke. Well until I turned on the tv the next morning. After a few days I went and got a heap of weeklies at the video store so I'd have something else to watch.

Bittervictorian  said about 5 years ago:

I still remember this as one of the Chaser's best headlines ever

Ben  said about 5 years ago:

I was in Brooklyn. The photo at the top of this thread I took on Brodway on the 13th of Sept.

Realised today that my bro is going to be in NY on the anniversary of September 11. Will be a weird time to be a tourist I think.

Also a maximum Godwin's law intellectual.

Well, if the subject at hand is international crimes against humanity, bringing the Nazis into the argument is not that Godwineseque…

The ABC doco on now is beyond retarded.

Why? I enjoyed it. You mean 'Rebirth' right?

slothman  said about 5 months ago:

man on wire is amazing! seeing footage of the towers getting built is wierd when you're so used to pictures of the wreckage.

Coz  said about 5 months ago:

It was good to see memorials focused on the loss of life, rather than thinly veiled war propaghanda. When the attacks first happened, it felt to me like the only emotion on display was bloodlust.

max bulk  said about 5 months ago:

At my mate's place last night, I regrettably flicked across some 9-11 TV and was subjected to 10 seconds of a lecture about how evil terrorists are, and how much of a threat they are to this country. That was channel 10. Then I remembered why I don't have a telly.

Coz  said about 5 months ago:

If you had a telly, maxxie, you might have known to expect epic stupidity whenever you turn on Channel 10.

ocelotl  said about 5 months ago:

Thought the Rebirth thing was pretty good, but couldn't watch the memorial thing for long... too many flags! Why do Americans have to filter their grief through patriotism? Is it because the whole thing's been framed as a ''war''?

ocelotl  said about 5 months ago:

Articulate today... three ''thing''s in one post.

I don't own a telly because I know to expect epic stupidity whenever I turn one on.

Coz  said about 5 months ago:

Hmm, true. But channel 10 really is the lowest of the low.

Wordless Music Orchestra performs The Disintegration Loops.

I was skeptical, but its really moving. They do some great stuff with it.
