you know, i think Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 in D minor is one of the most inspiring pieces of music ever written.
if i were to write a list of my Top 5 tunes - this would have to be in there.
the bit in the middle "Ode to Joy" is an absolute killer melody! (the symphony opens with the same melody but with brooding cello strings ...love it)
...but when the music goes quiet in the middle and then that choir kicks in with the HUGE Ode to Joy choral part - i get goosebumps every time
it kills me!
amazing.
weird
my topic title looks screwed up on the discussion board
and ludwig's picture vanished!
that's the last time i post about the classics on m+n
i've learnt my lesson.
strange formatting rules, you never know what will happen...
Ode to Coolsie Joy
Yo, Tupelo, I think it's a good symphony, if not overdone on TV and films.
Oh and by the way, it's Beethoven's 5th Symphony.
And it's in C minor.
(sorry to get on my high horse.)
You need a higher horse, nerdalert. Or a better informed one.

you're wrong nerdy!
it's definitely Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 in D minor i'm talkin' about!
i know the 5th Symphony In C Minor too - it's s great piece - but i'm not talkin' about that one.
both the 9th and 5th Symphonies have been somewhat overdone in tv and film ....so either you've got the name's mixed up - or you thought i was talkin' about the 5th Symphony
but i definetly mean the 9th - cuz that's the one with the "Ode to Joy" choral part i love
This piece just reminds me of music class in primary school where we all had to learn it on recorder.
cyber face flush
oops, apologies dudes. My brain isn't working today. It is the 9th, you were right. I feel like stabbing myself with a sharp pen...I'm a classical musician myself!
I prefer Beatoven.
I love this too... I used to have it as my mobile phone ring tone...When I was in a choir we performed this at the Melbourne Town Hall...I loved how all our voices sounded!
Immortal Beloved.
Ode To Joy being performed live by the MSO Saturday 1 November 2008 at 7:30 PM - Rod Laver

I prefer Butthoven
orright.
i used to be able to play bits of this on a recorder. it made me feel good.
Geez. I'm actually quite embarrassed about the above posts I made...
sorry tupelo.
Anyway, yep MSO concert looks great.
don't worry about it nerdalert! ...i'm not!
we all make mistakes :)
