what program should i use to make dvds that work in players (not in computers) from torrents i download?

usually i end up with large AVI files, which seems like a no-brainer to burn, but so far, im getting nowhere.

Nero Premium 7 works a treat for me.

if you can get you hands on Nero 7, it has an easy app that burns dvd from mpegs, wmv, avi's

I have to use Intervideo WinDVD creator at work, it's all they'll give us - but it works OK.
My DVD player players avi and divx and mpg etc so half the time the downloaded files are fine. Wish i could tweak the sound though, sometimes they're loud and overload the TV speakers.

SVG just make sure you use the right format of blank DVD disc for the target player.
DVD-R is probably the most versatile and will work in older players too; DVD+R is less so. Some players (sometimes old or cheap ones) won't play DVD+R discs. Most players will tell you on the front or in the manual if they like - or + or can play both, or can do dual layer too.

Nah that's wrong, DVD+R is more compliant for VIDEO.
DVD-R is better for data (on computers).
You can bitset a DVD+R to trick practically all DVD players into thinking it's a commercial DVD (avoiding compatibility issues)
You can not do this with a DVD-R.

But most DVD players nowadays can play both now worries.

une WINAVI video converter if you want to convert avi/mpeg files into dvd files, then use nero to burn them.

So, what do you do if you have an AVI with errors in it that won't transcode to a vob file?

Huh?

Carn, tell me.

jeffro  said about 5 years ago:

Try downloading DivFix (), then run your .avi through that and see if it strips the errors out.

Sometimes you need to convert an avi over to a full dvd compatible disk (for parents, friends, etc.) in whicjh case Nero works well.

If the conversion is for yourself then I think for the time & effort involved in doing the conversion, that it may be more worthwhile to buy one of those $36-$70 standalone dvd players that play the avi divx format. Particularly if you have quite a few avi files you want to play.

Modi  said about 5 years ago:

That's just it, Tabula, I have one of those DivX players, but this is for someone else, and the vob file doesn't come out right.

It's annoying.

Thanks, jeffro, I'll try it out.
