because there seems to have been a bit of talk about the lips around here, but no official thread.
i love this band so much, i wasn't that taken with at war with the mystics on first lissten. but i went back to it two weeks ago and i was completely taken with it. it has a different vibe to yoshimi and the soft bulletin.
anyhow if they are comng back for the big day out, that should be worth the admission price. so spread some flaming lips love.

nothing is worth the admission price for big day out.
I love the balloons and animal suits. One day i will be an animal dancing on stage.
i was an animal dancing onstage at the 04 BDO. wayne and the boys are absolutely lovely, genuine chaps.
that just happen to make fucking awesome music consistently.
i think everyone was in a dancing suit in 04. well, i wasnt but i seem to knwo about 15 people who were.
yowsers..that would of been fun.
Just finished the Staring at Sound bio, nice band, nice story, nice book.
I'll lend it to you if you have a library card and a book bag (pillow case is fine.)
I can't get into the new album... and I rarely listen to the others. I think I over did it.
Still, awesome live and some awesome albums.
It's easy to forget how awesome these guys really are. I've just pulled out Clouds Taste Metallic for the first time in ages and I'm loving it.
They need to come back to Australia and fast.
I'm seeing them again in 2 weeks in London. WHEEEEEEEE!!
I was in the front row at Royal Albert Hall last time I saw them, it was awesome.
>I love the balloons and animal suits. One day i will be an animal dancing on stage.
i think there's a prerequisite of working in red eye to do that.
golf clap
saw them in brighton on saturday for the first date of the latest uk tour.
not what i would call a success, although it started off fun.
roadies were dressed as superheroes, audience participants dressed as santas and martians.
a girl had an epileptic fit so they stopped the show for about 20 minutes. wayne was having a bad night and whinged no less than five times throughout the show about the cunt that stole their computer and two fuck off cameras.
although it was undoubtably fun, it was a bit tarnished. you don't want to get on wayne's bad side that's for sure.
yeah i found it a bit hard to get into the new album.. haven't really given it much of a spin compared to Yoshi and Soft Bulletin. just downloaded Fearless Freaks, which is ok. Will have to give the new one another crack... I like the band and how creative they are sometimes more than the actual music, if that makes sense.
I'm pretty keen on the new record. Some of it I really love..but it hasn't 'done me' like Yoshimi did..
i have an early flaming lips 12" in a silver psychedilic cover - maybe i should listen to it again...or put it on ebay!
I just had problems with the lyrical content this time..ie it shitted me.
and the vests..they shit me too.
but apart from 'over vesting syndrome' and some lyrics that sent me to an insane asylum, its a fucking great record.
I loved reading Staring at Sound...I like how the first time Jonathon Donahue quit working with the band it was because he couldn't accept that Wayne wasn't a Neil Young fan...
They're releasing At War with the Mystics with extra DVD content shortly, if its on a par with the 5.1 mixes of the Soft Bulletin and Yoshimi then we're in for a treat.
Has anyone notice a Lips song placed cheekily in Batman Forever?

Besides, I'm firmly in the Drozd camp.
I'm down bigdaddykane. It's a magnificent album. Ronald was amazing.
I have always wanted to write a song from the point of view of the robots in yoshimi. But you will not allow this.
Last night was awesome. Credit where credit is due. Aj maddah is a pretty good dude. I tweeted to him asking for free tickets and he provided. Champion.
Can't believe I drank that much and still ended up at work earlier than I had made it all week.
It was very hot in the venue, ended up having to go right up the top.
See The Leaves, David Bowie and *Drug Chart *can all take a hike. They're not real songs!
Drug Chart
Why did he give you free tickets?
I would definitely go and see this if it happened.
No reason at all. I just asked!
Seeing this kind of demented, totally awesome guitar work live would be a treat: Psychiatric Explorations...
Yeah, we wouldn't learn all the solos. That's impossible without a private lesson from Ronald, and he's dead. Just the chords. Which from memory, involve variations on E, D and A.
Well, I'm jealous ! Wouldn't even think to ask. Now I know better for next time
No mention yet that Coyne played the first few songs with a Cole Clark, which he'd already taken to modding. Wonder who gave it to him? Wonder if it'll stick around.
Steph Harmon has a great interview with Wayne on The Vine
I attended 4ZZZ's iPhone experiment on Saturday night. Report to come
Er, that last comment probably makes little sense out of context.
More: Brisbane radio station 4ZZZ invited Wayne along after Harvest on Saturday night to attempt to conduct 160 people using iPhones to play all four discs of Zaireeka simultaneously. Report to come!
I wonder how many times you can use the word 'schamozzle' in that article.
My report on the Zaireeka iPhone orchestra attempt is online
