blake3030  said about 5 years ago:

They'd have to fly back to Australia and wait another 50 DAYS to do the BDO, cleveland.

Not a chance in hell.

When Cedric jumped off stage in the first song, I was right in front of him taking photos, and he grabbed me in a bear hug and just started spinning around in circles and wouldn't let go. Totally freaked me out. Him crowd surfing to the front of Festival Hall was pretty rad, too.

Anyhoo, my photos are up here.

nnniiiiice fever...

blake3030  said about 5 years ago:

It was pretty good

last 45 mins were best

would have preferred 90 mins of radness rather than 145 of mixedness.

don't ask me what its status is.

jim  said about 5 years ago:

Those photos are sweet. Thanks for the link.

Oklele  said about 5 years ago:

ahh good old adam coming through with the goods.

saw the melbourne show and i'm not sure if it was the alcohol or what but it was up there as one of the greatest shows i've seen. mind you i was near the back of the hall dancing with some hippies.

also i can't view those photos, do i have to be a member?

Clive  said about 5 years ago:

whats with the people wearing At The Drive-In shirts to mars volta gigs and then trying to mosh and pick fights with people?
But anyways, how awesome is Thomas Pridgen (sp?) on drums??? He kept making omar and juan smile hugely with his crazy drum parts.

Oklele  said about 5 years ago:

oh that drumming was awesome!

during one of the earlier songs they had flood lights going from behind the stage and if you looked to the roof at the back of the room you could see his gigantic silhouette drumming away.

mudsy  said about 5 years ago:

thomas was a machine.fucken intense gig.i was absolutley knackered from partying the last couple of night and the mars volta kept beating me into submission.i thought it was never gonna end!
festival hall is a bloody sweatbox though and there a few drunken retards that i could see but all in all it was one of the gigs of the year for me.

this and comets on fire within a fortnight has been magic!!

najort  said about 5 years ago:

Last hour or so was killer.
Cedric is still a shit 'singer', but entertaining to watch.
Omar played the best I've heard him, FINALLY.
The sound was DISGUSTING UGLY BAD.
Was up front at start, but nothing could be seen.
Girlfriend and I went down back, next to 8 video screens feeding back the DV footage.
We got to see everything, witch was nice.
Lots of hippies and bogans and drunks and idiots smoking.
It was kinda worth the money.
Upset we couldnt hear the percussionist/sax member.
Have sworn to NEVER go to a large venue ever again.
The DVD should be great though, judging by what we got to see on the screens.

McGauz  said about 5 years ago:

yeah... the sound played a big part in my enjoyment, or lack of to some extent. It could have sounded so much better and I would have got into it a whole lot more... but still, going off how I was at the start of the gig, they won me over, at least more so if not fully. Entertaining is the right word. Drummer was fucking amazing. etc etc. Visually was great too... can't wait to see what comes of the footage. I can imagine kicking back in a beanbag enjoying watching a dvd of them live much more enjoyable. And YES, what an odd audience..!?!?!? totally not what I was expecting. Strange mix of people.

boyleastlikelyto  said about 5 years ago:

Fuck, the At The Drive-In show at the hi-fi was one of the best shows I have ever seen. The only unfortunate part was they only played one song off in/casino/out. But it was Napoleon Solo. Ahhh the memories.

ahahahaha i saw that too and was wondering if anyone else noticed!
My friend and i rocked up halfway through the first song. Maybe i was standing in a pretty poor spot on the floor but the sound was a little iffy. But i liked the last hour :)

ladyinred  said about 5 years ago:

ooh anyone know why they were filming Saturday?? DVD?

najort  said about 5 years ago:

Yep

OFFICIAL DVD/DOCO

They filmed the Sydney show too.
Apparently thats why Cedric has been in fine form prancing around a lot more again, well thats what a couple of the camera guys said to the director.

theres two happy snaps i tried to take of the silhouette.

mudsy  said about 5 years ago:

speaking of ADTI boyleastlikelyto,it was cool to see there bassist playing guitar for the mars volta over in the right side of stage.that hi fi gig was a killer.i was way into them when they toured and the whole night was incredible.from when cedric asked for a minutes silence for the big day out victim who later died it to the end it was an insanely chaotic masterpiece of a show!
