I saw them twice at SXSW last week - fucking great band.
Their record is tame compare to the live show but very good. but live the dude sounds like a cross between Terry Reid and Paul Rogers.... and they jam out the songs with long guitar and organ solos - my kinda band!!!
You know 'the dude' is also the singer from Comets on Fire?
I much prefer Comets on Fire, but the new Howlin' Rain album is pretty cool. One really awesome track, but I can't remember the name.

I think the last Comets on Fire album has a pretty similar vibe to Howlin Rain. I had no idea of there was an actual connection between them when I first heard Howlin Rain, but it immediately reminded me of COF.
