I'd pay snobbish, and class obsessed, and sexist in an old fashioned patronising way, though. But that was the character, not the man, who had a world of other issues going on.

I'm always vaguely surprised when I remember he died in Sydney. It was around the same time Marianne Faithfull had a go at dying in Sydney, wasn't it?
