Custom t-shirt printing

Tramdriver  said about 4 years ago  or at  8:21PM on Saturday, February 9 2008 in chat

Where is the best place to get this done? Am told there is a place that does it for about $10 on Smith st.

And where for t-shirts? At one of the discount places on Swanston you can get 3 t-shirts for $10. They seem ok, but too big (am told they will shrink in the wash- might wash 'em before printing).

I just love the idea that you can get a one in the world t-shirt for less than just about any brand name t-shirt.

yes, please do tell more about this place on smith st...........

Tramdriver  said about 4 years ago:

Well- just heard about it from a co-worker; (I think) if you are taking the tram away from the city on yr right, just past Gertrude st.

Friends Forever  said about 4 years ago:

I did this once. Got a picture from the internet I wanted on a tshirt and brought it to some printing place. It didn't turn out very well because my picture was a JPEG so the quality looked liked printing a picture on a piece of paper from your home computer, but instead on a tshirt.

I guess if you get a really good high res picture and save it as a PDF it might be better.

Oh, and for plain tees have your tried Bonds? Maybe Cotton On too?

n/ever  said about 4 years ago:

there's one on johnston st sorta just down from the old bar towards nicholson st. they can do one off prints, and will provide t shirts if you ask or you can get some shirts from that place that everybody buys hoodies at on the lower end of smith near alexandra....man my memory SUX. but the guys on johnston were pretty friendly n stuff and reasonably priced.

Tramdriver  said about 4 years ago:

FF - yeah I might check those places, but can get cheaper t-shirts (hopefully of reasonable quality). I don't want grey cos I already have several custom grey t-shirts done with print and iron transfers from Office Works. If you iron them on properly they work out pretty good.

n/ever - Might check that out. Can you remember the price at all? I will assume not- ;)

de.foxus  said about 4 years ago:

i think that one on johnston st is called the tshirt barn, but i can't find any infos through google.

Tramdriver  said about 4 years ago:

defox- Cheers will check out.

FF- yeah mine isn't a picture- I wouldn't try anything like for the very reason you mentioned. Mine is just words.

Tramdriver  said about 4 years ago:

Oh and just to make sure I am doing one-offs- not looking to buy in bulk and save.

Friends Forever  said about 4 years ago:

The place that n/ever mentioned is called ''Qualitops''. They sell plain hoodies, tshirts, sweaters in a variety of colours. I don't know if they would be as cheap as you want them but they are good if you're after a specific colour or want a quality top. They have a site too, just search for them in google.

n/ever  said about 4 years ago:

i think the one im thinking of is a couple of doors down from tshirt barn..its got lots of black and skull like stuff in the window last time i was there. i think they charged around $30-50 for 2 hoodies...but like i said my memory is not to be relied upon.

pandad  said about 4 years ago:

On the topic, does anyone know where to find fine cotton tshirts? I have this tshirt that was my brothers from 20 years ago, and the knit of the fabric is so fine and soft, and its just a cheap tourist tshirt from the States! All the cheap tshirts these days are less fine and more tough to the touch.

n/ever  said about 4 years ago:

right. the place is called panic. on johnston.

Pretty sure these guys do one-offs - A and D Printing

Inactivist  said about 4 years ago:

A DIY tutorial from Stencil Revolution

A lot of effort but I've done a wintergreen transfer once and it was pretty god, as wel as a paint-roller-acetate-stencil job which was even better.

Inactivist  said about 4 years ago:

Better than ''god'' apparently.

kabukiboy  said about 4 years ago:

have made a bunch of t shirts via kustom copy printing - used a couple of chris ware drawings from acme and turned out really well

de.foxus  said about 4 years ago:

the t-shirt barn i was thinking about is actually t-shirt takeaway (i went past it on the bus today).

but if you're going to check out panic, it might be a good idea to check it out as well.

Tramdriver  said about 4 years ago:

FF - Yeah I know about Qualitops.

ando- they don't look like my thing.

de.foxus - Panic is only $10 per t-shirt! Sweet. Cheers.

A and D made T-shirts for us and they are really really good. Good quality and cheap too. (and we are not a metal or hard rock band - we got cute shirts with birds on them)

Tramdriver  said about 4 years ago:

How cheap?

charlesincharge  said about 4 years ago:

BUMP

Morris Iemma  said about 1 year ago:

Hey loungey, your photo makes me want to start a myspace page.

Why do you want to print a t-shirt tredapper? You can buy 'em for like $5.

Tramdriver  said about 1 year ago:

Morris- I want a custom one, is all.

Morris Iemma  said about 1 year ago:

I'll make one for you

Tramdriver  said about 1 year ago:

Good stuff- a McGuirk one would be rather awesome!

Morris Iemma  said about 1 year ago:

You have to supply the white shirt and black marker.

I looked at http://www.aanddprinting.com/#, I think their site is dead, were they based in Aus?
thanks!!

dannulla  said about 5 months ago:

maybe try vista print or even zazzle.com.au

samiek  said about 5 months ago:

thanks, but neither Vista or Zazzie have many colour options, only black + white?

any other ideas, i really need affordable short run options, i cant believe in this day and age I am looking at close to $40 a piece if i want anything other than black + white T options?

help me! ..please.

Leon Robinson  said about 5 months ago:

Samiek,
$40 a piece for a one off is cheap -certainly for decent screen printing .
Go digital (that's not an insult) for a cheap print or buy some tshirt transfer ink jet paper from Officeworks.
Lot of work to put a design on screen and set up the machine. $40 is peanuts.

samiek  said about 5 months ago:

Thanks Leon, i am happy to go digi, but still $40 for T colour options.
+my design is 1 colour. );

Leon Robinson  said about 5 months ago:

PM me if u need any advice

If you're in sydney (even if not), Arcade in St Peters is a fnk fantastic place to get your work done. Can even teach you how to do it yourself!!
