MF DOOM

Ghostface  said about 4 years ago  or at  10:23PM on Friday, January 25 2008 in music

MF Doom - aka Viktor Vaughn aka one half of Dangerdoom aka one half of Madvillain - is one of the best rappers out there.

This is him in illustration form:

And here's one of his best tracks from Madvillain, awesome minimalism.

Accordion

Yeah, at home on a Friday night

Fucking A!

Ghostface  said about 4 years ago:

You at home too?

astralwerkor  said about 4 years ago:

I am. About to go out, but I might enjoy some Madvillain in the interim.

Ghostface  said about 4 years ago:

Can I come? I'm bored at home

astralwerkor  said about 4 years ago:

Sure. But first we gotta listen to some MV simultaneously to rev up. What song sir?

Ghostface  said about 4 years ago:

Madvillain or Mars Volta?

Hmmm, if it's Madvillain make it All Caps.

If it's the Mars Volta make it the last track off De-Loused

astralwerkor  said about 4 years ago:

Madvillain. Good choice sir.

Ghostface  said about 4 years ago:

We should totally look at the moon at the same time and think of each other

Timely bump. I've been playing Midvillainy all day.

Still an amazing album.

Dilla Ghost Doom tracks are up, but store doesn't accept non-US credit cards :/

Tramdriver  said about 3 years ago:

Yeah, yo
Doom nominated for the best rolled L's
And they wondered how he dealt with stress so well
Wild guess? You could say he stay sedated
Some say buddha'd, some say faded

Can someone tell me what these lyrics mean? My friend needs to know.

Past week been having one of those why didn't I listen to this earlier moments. My cousin was wearing a ''Raise It Up For Ma Dukes'' t-shirt which got us to talking about J Dilla, MF Doom, Slum Village etc etc and how I should know about these things. Clearly I've been living in a world of post rock for too long. The Madvillainy album is amazing.

Ghostface  said 23 days ago:

Madvillainy. So much love for that album. DOOM is one of my favourite artists ever, if not my most fave

steveholt  said 23 days ago:

So after Madvillainy where do I go to?

Bought J Dilla's Donuts and I downloaded MF Doom/Madlib/J Dilla/Slum Village/Quasimoto torrents that are fairly disorganised and has a stack of mix tapes so interested what a newbie like me should listen to first.

Ghostface  said 23 days ago:

Go with Mm.. Food

dzerzhanzhinskii  said 22 days ago:

definitely get on to mm food if you have yet to.
rapp snitch knishes, guinnesses, beef rapp, etc..

can't really say which specifically i'd recommend, but these are my favourite records (aside from madvillainy and mm food):

i) viktor vaughn - vaudeville villain (worth every dime for that one track with apani b)

ii) monsta island czars - escape from monsta island (one the best crews ever assembled - doom / geedorah doesn't show up much though apart from the ubiquitous prod work.)

iii) king geedorah - take me to your leader (i'd happily take this over any doom / vaughn)

iv) doom - born like this

v) doom - operation doomsday (classic shit)

vi) grimm / doom - mf ep

vii) danger doom - the mouse and the mask

pretty much everything, innit? haha

also: this track with ghostface off the natural selection comp

Same night as Mark Kozelek/Sydney v Essendon. Wonder what the chances of a second show are? Otherwise I might have to go to Sydney

Who got their tickets? I'm cranking Madvillain and getting stupidly excited

MelonHCST  said 15 days ago:

Thanks for the offer Mr Ghostface but I am from there originally and my mum would be very upset if I didn't stay at her house.
$85 :(

Ghostface  said 15 days ago:

Yeah it's A lot of cash but it's do worth it for me. I was at Amoeba in Hollywood and saw the Madvillain action figure for $200. I was so mighty tempted

Jerm  said 15 days ago:

Yessir.. Can't wait to see them at the Forum.

Hoping more shows get added- always happy to break the bank for gigs like these.
