Fuck Buttons

djbollocks  said about 4 years ago  or at  6:40PM on Monday, January 7 2008 in music

There was a thread about this band before the great Christmas purge of 2007.

Anyway the original thread inspired me to download their single Bright Tomorrow and it is fucking great.

Fuck Buttons was conceived by Andrew Hung & Benjamin John Power in the winter of 2004, Bristol UK. Initially the group was born as an outlet for their nihilistic-noise tendencies but quickly, the two Fuck Buttons realised they could harness the use of noise as a tool to immerse and evoke. No longer afraid of melody or rhythm, the group started fusing all these elements to the point when drone becomes melody becomes rhythm.

*With their electric live performances sealing the notion that the two Fuck Buttons are attempting some kind of transcendence between the listener and the Universe itself, one could easily envisage ones psyches being shaken by the very rumbles of the earth's motions.'

Tribal beats and subtle beautiful melodies weave amongst contorting Technicolor drone-scapes while preaching distorted-vocals scream for dear hope herself Fuck Buttons straddle you between the wall of sound that lies between the beginning of destruction and the end of birth. This grand noise will fondle you into a state of immersed euphoria.

really?

Hellzapoppin  said about 2 years ago:

The ATP show was ok. Would like to see them somewhere a little more intimate.

anonymous  said about 2 years ago:

the club show i saw alongside atp was pretty bloody good, but in a way the big stage/big atmosphere/big sound at atp overwhelmed it for massive awesomeness.

then again was oxford art factory, not the best room, i'm sure a smaller room with a good sound would kill it.

I am Morris  said about 2 years ago:

ATP fucking owned because everyone was wrecked from being trapped on an island in ridiculously hot weather that everyone decided to go nuts once Fuck Buttons started. Awesome idea putting them on after Nick Cave.

Hellzapoppin  said about 2 years ago:

I caught them early in the day style at Mt Buller.. would have preferred to have been more trashed. Lord knows I was trying.

anonymous  said about 2 years ago:

yeah, later at buller would've been the best. Missed them at atp syd due to having seen them twice that week.

redlips  said about 2 years ago:

Hellzapoppin  said about 2 years ago:

anonymous  said about 2 years ago:

guess the syd one didn't stand out like the others.

flukazoid  said about 2 years ago:

redlips  said about 2 years ago:

Fuck Buttons' Benjamin John Power's side project, Blanck Mass

''His eponymous debut album, a collection of tracks loosely themed around cerebral hypoxia and the beautiful complexity of the natural world , features ten songs which were written, recorded and self-produced at home in London between Summer and Winter 2010. An interstellar journey that defies classification, revealing itself further and further with each listen; offering more with each visit.''
