Antony Hegarty is on board too for album recreation tour
Lou Reed has revealed plans to tour his 1973 album 'Berlin'.

He has also confirmed the concerts will feature contributions from Antony Hegarty of Antony & the Johnsons.

The album, thought by many to be one of the most depressing albums of all time, has never been performed live.

Most of you probably haven't heard of Antony & the Johnstons - they are fucking awesome man!

Yep - standing room at the back of the stalls behind all the seats. It's not a HUGE theatre, so you can still see pretty well from there.

montyclift  said about 5 years ago:

state theatre haz? yes there is. you mill around up behind seats...

openroad  said about 5 years ago:

it's worth pointing out that in the encore, everyone just flocked to the front of the stage too...

Just got back.

Easily one of the best shows I've ever been to. Ever. I'm lost for words.

yeah it was very fucking good.

MountainMan  said about 5 years ago:

this was great fun. the julian schnabel set was a bit meh and you couldn't really see the projections properly, but the music was awesome. sharon jones's lungs were fantastic on backup, but i couldn't really hear antony until the last few tracks off berlin. though the album itself is meant to be depressing, i didn't find it was like that at all live.

the encore was the cherry on top, sharon jones taking up the mic on 'sweet jane' and then antony for 'candy says'. two very different songs sung in very different ways. we rushed down to the front for the encore and really got to see old craggy-face glancing appreciatively at his band.

I saw sitting directly in front of Bob Ezrin and the sound desk, he mentioned to someone that he was recording it. Hopefully there will be some copies floating around.

spaceman1  said about 5 years ago:

truly a perfect night.

quite easily one of the best shows i've ever seen.

standing right up at the front of the stage for the encore was also very special.

spaceman1  said about 5 years ago:

just curious, was bob ezrin set up kind of at the back of the crowd, or closer to the stage?

New York City show from December has been on dimeadozen for a while.

I'm still hoping that that Tracey Hutchinston interview will pop up on youtube. In the meantime check out this interview with Lou when he first visited Australia in 1974. Hilarious.
