No todd thread.....

Was listening to ''Runt'' this morning, such a good album!

Is Runt everyones favourite?

bamesjaker  said about 4 years ago:

I'll never be able to purge myself of the memory of Can We Still Be Friends

GnomeChomsky  said about 4 years ago:

I really really love A Wizard, A True Star. I probably listen to it more than I listen to Runt but I think both albums have different moods & appeal to me under different curcumstances.

poprocks96  said about 4 years ago:

I loved the song ''International Feel'' that was in the Daft Punk movie ''Electroma''

Hadn't heard it before.

Ohyeah  said about 4 years ago:

lots of love for the todd.

last album was pretty good

hypnoToad  said about 4 years ago:

A second for Wizard - a very trippy album.
I found Hermit of Mink Hollow to be way too sappy - would that reflect his other stuff?

hillsonghoods  said about 4 years ago:

Something Anything is the best, I reckon. Wizard is great, and so is Runt. Also check out Deface The Music by Utopia, it's Todd doing his best Beatles impression.

Paging newguy to thread.

Ohyeah  said about 4 years ago:

paging burt, with personal face to face todd experience

poprocks96  said about 4 years ago:

I don't like Utopia....

I think I still have an sms from Burt saying he just met Todd!! hehe.

__v  said about 4 years ago:

I was at an awful corporate conference in the USA once, and they were making all these horrible noises about INNOVATION and PROGRESSIVE THINKING and EXECUTING CREATIVE RISK ATTAINMENT ENABLEMENT and this segued into a video presentation with a nasty kind of techno accompaniment, and the video screens started flashing TODD RUNDGREN and then Todd Rundgren ran out on stage and started singing a song to a backing track.

Then he talked about computers being cool for a bit, then disappeared.

alter, is that you under the bag?

Fielding Mellish  said about 4 years ago:

Ha, I put nine in there.

Might wanna squeeze initiation or Back to the Bars in at number 10

BurtBacharach  said about 4 years ago:

Something/Anything head and shoulders above everything else.

I don't really dig Wizard.

For some reason I really enjoy Hermit.

I would love to cover 'Can We Still Be Friends'.

the end.

Fielding Mellish  said about 4 years ago:

Something/Anything IS a masterpiece in the classic double album sense. However, There is something about Faithful that makes me go beserk. ''Cliche'', ''Love of a common man'', ''The Verb to love'' are 3 of my favourite songs ever written. And the playing is sensational. Plus his choice of covers on side one are great. He does 2 Fabs songs, Beach Boys, Dylan etc.

Plus, the guy produced XTCs ''Skylarking'' and Meat Loaf ''Bat Out Of Hell'' and Badfinger ''Straight Up'' (With George Harrison). His production alone make's him a genius.

Ohyeah  said about 4 years ago:

was his genius questioned?

Fielding Mellish  said about 4 years ago:

I dont think the indie kids even know who he is. Let alone know what he has done.

The guy made like 10 awesome albums in a row in the space of about 7 years. For me, only the beatles had that kind of output of quality in a short time. As well as pushing the boundries with every record. The next one was always a reaction to the last one. Genius.

Ohyeah  said about 4 years ago:

he got genius status for me just coz of skylarking

That's just what he's doing right now. I'm more interested in what he's doing right now than hearing him at 60+ relearning his old songs.

What bullshit.

fowltonmeans  said about 1 year ago:

No, it's true. I am.

BurtBacharach  said about 1 year ago:

I saw him a couple of years ago, just playing by himself on electric guitar and piano, doing just his material, old and new. Didn't feel like he was having to relearn the old stuff...he played them all with passion.

Hi Nite Shok,

Am in desperate need of Molly Meldrum/ Todd Interview .

Could you please upload or send to me.

Am a big Todd fan from Perth. saw him play at One movement but couldn't go to the interview!

Flicktease  said about 1 year ago:

I flew over from Perth to The Corner to see Todd. Like most people I was initially disappointed that he wasn't playing more of his songs but ,nevertheless, it was a great show. Got to meet him afterwards too.

Saw him play a shorter set at One Movement Fest in Perth. Poor crowd.

Noone over here knows who he is!

A book on Todd has just been released in the Us...all about his work in the studio. A must have! It's written by Paul Myers (Mike's brother) and he interviewed a heap of people. These include....

Todd, Hall and Oates, Robbie Robertson, Patti Smith, Cheap Trick, Grand Funk, XTC, TPOH,
Steve Hillage,Jim Steinman, Meat Loaf etc...

You can also purchase for a mere $20.00 a webcast of his Todd/Healing show. You can watch it over and over again until the end of November. I really recommend it. Far more lavish show than TR's Johnson.

That book looks excellent. Does it discuss Dreams of Ordinary Men?

NiteShok  said about 1 year ago:

I've uploaded it here. http://soundcloud.com/user3590165/todd-rundgren-interviewed-by-molly-meldrum-musexpo-asia-pacific-in-perth-australia-oct-8-2010

I missed the introduction, but this is the final 43 minutes. Enjoy

Flicktease  said about 1 year ago:

Thanks!

The book covers ALL his productions. Don't think Paul caught up with any Dragon members but Todd did talk about it.

Will make for great reading!

Tiger Tiger  said about 11 months ago:

that episode is Gold! love how they always have a food segment on the show. Sausage making with Todd was piss funny.
Live From Daryl's House is some of the best made for internet TV at the moment.

Tiger Tiger  said about 10 months ago:

Todd's just done another episode of Live From Daryl's House. great song selection, including ''the Last Ride''.

Live From Todd's House actually.

fowltonmeans  said about 10 months ago:

Same thing isn't it?

fowltonmeans  said about 10 months ago:

I mean, isn't it the 'Todd's just done another episode' episode the same as the one mentioned 3 weeks ago?

LaxCharisma  said about 10 months ago:

I just this morning discovered Todd was in The Nazz. I had no idea.

Tiger Tiger  said about 10 months ago:

correct fowltonmeans. i wasn't aware of it and thought previous discussion was in reference to Todd's previous appearence on the show. he has done 2 episodes.
anyway, their take on ''The Last Ride'' is killer-bee! what songwriting. that part from ''Horizon's East and skyline's West...'' wow!

fowltonmeans  said about 6 months ago:

http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/music/pop-rock/original-album-series/650680

5 x Todd albums including some of his best, for $20 (in my local JB it was actually only $18).

Dan_Crad  said about 6 months ago:

Hmmm... I'm dubious about these 'Original Album Series' five album sets from Rhino. From what I've read on Amazon, so far most seem to be original CD transfers (Little Feat being one example) - none are remastered, which seems so utterly cheap and pointless, as most, if not all, the albums have remastered versions in Warner's/Rhino's catalogue.

fowltonmeans  said about 6 months ago:

I have only listened to Runt so far but it sounds fine to me compared to my vinyl version.
