Long overdue- APPRECIATIN'!

It won't be televised

Lucydiamond  said about 5 years ago:

I love his album 'Spirits'.

I've seen him live 3 times.

I think he may be in prison now, though.

Goodbye_beret!  said about 5 years ago:

It would be interesting to see him live. There needs to be a modern tribute album (He appears on the 2002 Blackalicious album "Blazing Arrow", but he doesn't do a whole lot). Yeah according to Wikipedia he is most likely in jail.

whitey on the moon...godhead!

PelicanGodOfJupiter  said about 5 years ago:

Yeah he's in prison, diamond. Two years for breaking parole or something.

I only have The Revolution Will Not Be Televised. It's good, it's historic, it's wayyy ahead of its time, but I just can't listen to it.

versionsporadic  said about 5 years ago:

On July 5th, 2006, Scott-Heron was sentenced to two-to-four years in prison for violating a plea deal on a drug possession charge by leaving a treatment center. Heron said he is HIV-positive and claimed the in-patient rehab center stopped giving him his medication. The prosecution countered that Heron had once skipped out for an appearance with singer Alicia Keys.[1]

Goodbye_beret!  said about 5 years ago:

I was listening to him yesterday- I find it upifting which is good as depressing music can take it out of you. So still appareciating (sic).

L5M  said about 5 years ago:

I saw him in The Jazz Cafe in London in 2001 and he was great. Amazing baritone voice. Only dissapointing thing was that there was not one black face in the audience. Considering he's spent much of his life being a voice for Afro-Americans.

king loser  said about 2 years ago:

Lady Day & John Coltrane - killer cut from Gil!

pking  said about 2 years ago:

i just bought the 'im new here' LP.

i'm a little annoyed that the version of the LP avail in australia is a single 12'' - the US and UK issues are x2 gatefold vinyl (the new LP + a bonus LP of new live versions of gil's back catalogue)

JRB  said about 2 years ago:

There's also the 7'' of Me And The Devil which includes and orchestral mix of the tune on the flip.

pking  said about 2 years ago:

on to it jrb

king loser  said about 2 years ago:

you guys gonna oder the 2LP? Is it still available? + Were?

JRB  said about 2 years ago:

I think Northside has some in stock.

king loser  said about 2 years ago:

Yeah, Polyester in city have x2 Vinyl for the same price as single (?)

pking  said about 2 years ago:

same price?? damn! i bought the copy (with the single 12'') that i mentioned above at polyester!

mrb  said about 11 months ago:

I well remember discovering his music with my friends years ago...we were obsessed with him for a year or so. His last album is also wonderful. Really sad about this.

djbollocks  said about 11 months ago:

Such sad news, his last album was so good too, who knows the great music he would've continued to do if he'd lived a while longer.

cupojo  said about 11 months ago:

Terrible, terrible news. A visionary gone.

pking  said about 11 months ago:

Rest in peace
