Does anyone else like this group? They make super hyped-up cutesy indie pop. Plus they have an adorable name!

BEST BAND

Robert Schneider is pretty much the most talented guy ever. He produced "In The Aeroplane Over The Sea" as well.

And his solo stuff (under the name "Marbles") is pretty fucking ace too.

silvertone  said about 5 years ago:

yes!

fantastic band. I think there's been some crossover of members with Olivia Tremor Control, another amazing band.

percolator  said about 5 years ago:

absolutely LOVE Discovery of a World inside the Moone but never bought their other albums. had a quick listen but they didnt do it for me. hate that.

The Sunshine Fix is the solo project of The Olivia Tremor Control's Bill Doss. The name predates the Olivia Tremor Control and is currently in use.

Doss started the project while in high school, going as far as to self-release an album on cassette called A Spiraling World of Pop, later re-released under the Elephant Six banner. Doss then met up with W. Cullen Hart and Jeff Mangum; together, they formed the Olivia Tremor Control, and the Sunshine Fix moniker was put into hiatus (although, as an aside, it became the title of an Olivia Tremor Control song, which appears on the Singles and Beyond compilation).

Following the dismantling of Olivia Tremor Control in 2000, Doss began recording under the Sunshine Fix name again, releasing a single and preparing an EP, which was released by Kindercore Records in 2000, featuring members of Olivia Tremor Control, Of Montreal, Elf Power, and others.

In 2001, the Doss formed a more stable band, adding Kevin Sweeney and Sam Mixon, and released The Age of the Sun on Emperor Norton Records. A tour with Guster followed, and they continued recording, releasing Green Imagination in 2004. Although the record recieved a generally muted critical reception, the band continued to tour in its support. Doss also continues to record songs for a new Sunshine Fix album, though he notes that the new material has a darker direction - "more Leonard Cohen than John Lennon"

hiponion  said about 5 years ago:

le sigh

i love the sunshine fix too.

hillsonghoods  said about 5 years ago:

the sunshine fix are great - though their first album, 'age of the sun" i like more than "green imagination", which isn't quite as sunshine-poptastic.

can't wait for the next circulatory system album either.

though i do wish those two got back together and olivia tremor controlled it up. hart is to lennon as doss is to mccartney, etc.

the apples in stereo - always seem to be somewhat missing a certain something to me.

hillsonghoods  said about 5 years ago:

at the same time, how awesome is strawberryfire?

hiponion  said about 5 years ago:

and 'ruby'

ProDelgado  said about 5 years ago:

Never heard any of their recorded stuff...caught them live supporting Urusei Yatsura way too long ago, and always meant to buy an album, just never got round to it, what would you say was a good primer for them?

nice gig. the sounds was fantastic for smallgoods. if only the bar staff stopped serving for that last song. sat outside for the second band, sounded good, but needed to sit (also need some furniture in that band room when its done, hopefully!). rob was great, despite the voice!

so what have they done to the band room to make it sound so good? better pa? or did getting rid of the mirrors do the trick?

but i was exhausted by the end having been there from 4pm! please have less time betwen bands next time. too long a day!

also one of the djs needed a kick in the head. whoever turned the sound up so loud that you couldn't sit outside the band room. yeah i was grumpy, hangover induced.

I think it was employing that sound guy... what's his name again?

Fielding Mellish  said about 2 years ago:

I thought it sounded like shit.

Why were people selling clothes in the pub?

Urquhart Bluff  said about 2 years ago:

I'm selling beer on my wardrobe if anyone wants some.

Meh. In/on. You can have your beer wherever you like.

Peri  said about 2 years ago:

Sound guy was Simon Connell from Aleks and the Ramps. He is employed for the whole of the Sundae Series. The sound was fantastic. I am forever frustrated by bad engineers. Simon was great. Interested to hear him with the louder stuff.

i think he is mixing everyone but Rowland's band.

Peri  said about 2 years ago:

actually its Simon Connolly (not Connell). apologies.

Rennellds  said about 2 years ago:

The name Apple is sensual.

Well named, Gwyneth

Kez  said about 2 years ago:

What annoyed me most about the 'sound' was the groups folks at the back carrying on converations in loud voices. Disrespectful to the person on stage and to those who actually wanted to hear what was going on. Rob's between-song spiels were crack-ups, but often drowned out by the yakkers. Next time please take it to the other room, talkative people.

Dzap  said about 2 years ago:

Agreed on less time between bands. An hour and so between Parking Lot and Rob S was a bit hard to endure.
All in all it was a pleasant Sunday arvo/night.

100sand1000s  said about 2 years ago:

robert's the funniest guy i've ever met.
he's also the nicest guy i've ever met.
he is now my second favourite person in the whole world.

Peri  said about 2 years ago:

I seconded that. What an awesome dude. I think he thanked us about 8 times.

Good review on Faster Louder too. Am I allowed to say that on here?

black wasp!  said about 2 years ago:

You are. Profit share!

Earl Brutus  said about 2 years ago:

surprised to find this leaked

trafficsounds  said about 2 years ago:

it's seriously ELOtastic. love it more than anything else they've done in a while. rollerskates off into the glitter sunset...

Fielding Mellish  said about 2 years ago:

This is the best AIS record I have ever heard. Lynnetastic!

Zaphod  said about 1 year ago:

Hey, does anyone know who brought Schneider out here last year?

k2  said about 1 month ago:

Just ''discovered'' this band, enjoying them a lot.
