i saw them on the quickness tour - they were pretty average at that stage
heard some stories about them playing in the uk around 83 or 84 - hr doing backflips whilst stood between two coppers who were trying to close the show done
bad brains are fucken awesome! totally awesome musicians.
i saw at ev's when they toured with the meanies even though they didnt have HR singing they were still really good
even on a shit day they would still totally destroy all those other shit head hardcore bands
(except black flag)
"Pay To Cum" is still one of my favourite songs. I'm not usually that impressed by musicianship, but they play this song with such precision. It's melodic, hard as a Motorhead tune but yet groovy like the JB's and clocks in at 1 min 41 sec. It's just a perfect pop song. Fuck, I think I'm going to be as bold to say that it's my favourite song ever!...for the time being.
Legendary proto-hardcore act Bad Brains plan a new album with the original line-up.
The pioneering reggae hardcore punks have been playing sporadically over the last couple of decades. They formed in 1977 and revolutionized punk rock at the time. Being an all-black punk band was a revelation at the time, and they used their heritage to bring Rastafarian religious iconography, jazz, funk and reggae to the burgeoning chaos of hardcore punk.
Bad Brains first broke up in 1984, due to singer HR’s volatile temperament, and it kept them in limbo for the rest of their career. Many splits and line-up changes followed. Their most recent album was 2003’s ‘I And I Survived’, which was mostly dub and reggae.
The spark for the new album was their recent farewell shows for legendary New York club CBGBs. Guitarist Dr. Know told Billboard that the shows were “tremendous.” He continued, “It was really an honour and a privilege to have so many good friends and see them all. We were back together for a week; we hadn't been together for a long time."
He promised that the new album will be a mix of old and new style Bad Brains, and it will be produced by Beastie Boy Adam Yauch, aka MCA. They also announced during the CBGBs shows that they plan a new tour titled The Re-Ignition Tour.
Build a Nation was produced by Adam Yauch of the Beastie Boys. It reunites band members H.R., Dr. Know, Daryl Jenifer and Earl Hudson for the first time in more than a decade.

Pay To Cum Along - Millions of Dead Cops
We don't need your Jah's fascist doctrine
We don't need to be so uptight
Hide your eyes from the truth
Not to be free but to be right
New World Order of old world lies
Jesus dons a new disguise
When people gave you homes and love
You gave back hate from high above
Couldn't help us fight the fight
Get together black and white
Returned all support with abuse
And intolerance beyond excuse
Black hardcore, hot and mad
Such good lyrics, it's so sad
Could have taken up a stand
Been the most important band
Looking out for number one holiest of guests
Smoking crucial herb while ignoring all their debts
They have shown for all to see, being musically blessed
Makes you no better than anyone else
Frail and human like all the rest
Oh well, we tell you what it cost
We'll never know what was lost
Your selfishness has been a burn
A lesson bitter we had to learn
We don't need no Jah jive security
We don't need to be so uptight
See you hide your eyes from the truth
Not to be free, but to be right
Rah.
In appreciation.
