a general thread for all deaths is a bit bleak, heb.
Possibly
But it is also sad when you post an individual thread over the death of someone you admire and it draws nor response at all
There is this generic thread already
But I think the injured joke has run its course.
If this thread had used the 'injured' meme, there would have been justified outrage
It's just not going to be too long before someone is hurt over a thread name that grew out of conflicting reports over Steve Irwin's death
To me, this was NOT amusing
ah. What a dumbarse i am. I didn't see that. I have been on holidays you see. My mistake.
when i was working in obits we had a how we remembered him/her section. less jarring.
that thread was about as funny as frigid star making a joke about mary hansen.
George Osmond, father and early manager of the singing siblings who shot to the top of the charts with ''One Bad Apple'' in the early 1970s, has died at age 90, a family spokesman said on Tuesday. The Osmond family patriarch, who helped launch the musical careers of six of his eight sons, including Donny, and his only daughter, Marie, died of natural causes on Monday at an assisted-living center in Provo, Utah, said spokesman Kevin Sasaki...

Keith Baxter, the former drummer of late nineties indie-rock outfit 3 Colours Red, has died of liver failure. Just aged 36, he was surrounded by his friends and family when he passed away from a Gastro-intestinal Haemorrhage on January 4.
His partner Rachel said of his death: “'Keith's sudden death has left us all in shock and words cannot express the how much he meant to us all. He was a loving, kind, gentle and talented man who lived life. He was a loving, kind, gentle and talented man who lived life. Those of us who had the pleasure of sharing part of his life with him will hold the memories close to our heart and part of him will always be with us.”
A statement on the band’s website reads: “Our much loved friend Keith Baxter died peacefully on the 4th January 2008 in the Royal Lancaster Infirmary from a Gastro-intestinal Haemorrahage aged 36. He was surrounded by his loving family. Keith's partner Rachel, twin Garry and brothers Kev and Neil would like to thank everyone for their kind messages and support at this tragic time.”
Liver failure at 36! Sheesh. Must have ''lived life'' quite extensively. Still sad tho.
A friend of mine had major pancreas failure at 28. Got him to the hospital in time though.
RIP brad renfo.
LORD Bloody Wog Rolo was an electronics engineer who made his living as an auto-electrician and installed car alarms. He called himself a professional alarmist. Others call him one of Australia's great stirrers.
Former world chess champion Bobby Fischer has died at the age of 64, Icelandic TV and radio said today. Fischer, who died yesterday, gained fame in his teens for his chess-playing ability and, in 1972, became the only US-born chess player to become the official world chess champion. But the grandmaster refused to defend his title in 1975 when the World Chess Federation did not accept all his conditions for a title defence. Fischer renounced his US citizenship and, in 2005, he moved to Iceland where he lived until his death...
Apologies if this has been posted previously. John Stewart, former Kingston Trio singer, author of Daydream Believer and solo artist just dropped off the twig. His solo song ''Gold'' seemed to be every second tune played on AM radio in mid 1979.
The kids used to sing ''There's guys out there turning sheilas into moles'' as a substituted Gold line. Ah, the suburbs!
Wasn't Bobby Fisher also on Home & Away?
Actress Suzanne Pleshette, best known as the feisty but level-headed wife of Bob Newhart on television's 1970's hit ''The Bob Newhart Show,'' has died at age of 70, friends said on Sunday. Pleshette died of respiratory failure at her Los Angeles home on Saturday, friends and associates told local media. She had received chemotherapy for lung cancer in 2006 and appeared at a ''Bob Newhart'' reunion in September in a wheelchair. Newhart issued a statement calling his co-star ''an indomitable spirit'' and ''one of those people you thought would go on forever. She was a pro's pro and I know she was looking forward to getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on her birthday, January 31,'' said Newhart. The raven-haired Pleshette, trained for the stage in New York, became a regular on television shows in the 1970s and 1980s and most recently appeared in a recurring role on NBC's ''Will & Grace.'' But she was best loved as the no-nonsense Emily Hartley, foil to the wry Bob Newhart, on ''The Bob Newhart Show'' from 1972 to 1978...

Harvey Pekar dead at 70 (American Splendor)
That's fucked. I love Harvey Pekar. Way too young.
Tuli Kupferberg, a poet and singer who went from being a noted Beat to becoming, in his words, “the world’s oldest rock star” when he helped found the Fugs, the bawdy and politically pugnacious rock group, died on Monday in Manhattan. He was 86.
RIP Harvey Pekar.
Jamaican reggae artist and producer Sugar Minott died Saturday at age 54.
His wife Maxine Stowe said he died unexpectedly in a Kingston, Jamaica, hospital after complaining of feeling ill earlier in the day. No cause of death was released.
Minott had cancelled a string of Canadian concerts in May because of health problems, reported to be angina.
[The smooth-voiced singer helped popularize reggae in the 1970s and 1980s with hits such as Good Thing Going, Vanity and Mr. DC.
He also was a pioneer of the Jamaican dance-hall scene, and known as a mentor to young Jamaican artists.
Born Lincoln Barrington Minott on May 25, 1956, in Kingston, he was involved in local sound systems (groups of disc jockeys and MCs) from his youth.
In 1969, he joined Tony Tuff and Derrick Howard to form the African Brothers, and recorded the album No Cup No Broke.
In the early 1970s, the African Brothers broke up and Mott went solo. He built his reputation by laying vocal tracks over backing tapes, instead of using a live band, a style that would be adopted by Jamaican dance-hall stars.
After recording Live Loving and Showcase, albums that were considered dance-hall breakthroughs, he left the Studio One label to form his own Black Roots label. The label worked with his Youth Promotion company to advance the careers of young artists, including Ranking Joe, Captain Sinbad and Ranking Dread.

Oh, that's very sad about Harvey Pekar. I've been reading a lot of his stuff lately. Vale, you grumpy old coot.
