Mess+Noise magazine closes.

andyr  said about 4 years ago  or at  10:32PM on Wednesday, October 24 2007 in industry

So, issue 15 of Mess+Noise magazine was the last to go to print.

All content will now move online at messandnoise.com, where the focus will remain on timely CD and live reviews as well as articles.

I wasn't sure if Danny or Craig wanted to make the announcement on here or leave it to someone else. The email was sent to contributors yesterday afternoon.

Personally, I'm pretty sad about this -- but I'm also sure that M+N will continue to publish the best truly independent music journalism in Australia.

The magazine cost a lot to print. Hopefully with those resources freed up to focus on the website, we can all expect a bit more kick-ass... and the return of the online events calendar.

Yeah, I liked being able to flick through it when I saw it.

Reading long articles online makes my eyes sore.

simpletune  said about 3 years ago:

i miss the mag. i miss its gorgeous layout and quality paper and full artwork printing right to the bleeding edges (oh my!) and i miss the content that hasn't a place on the website like 'postcard from' and handscribbled stuff and odd quotes on the spine and reading emmy hennings' essays on the bus trips. yes.

tadatadatada  said about 3 years ago:

i really miss the illustration and photography, and extremely long articles which aren't reviews. all stuff the website doesn't provide.

I just found a copy of M+N issue 1, from April/May 2005, in a box of stuff.
AIH, Bird Blobs, Origami, & Grand Salvo. Album reviews were in a section called ''Almanac''.
It has contributor pics on page 4- Mathieson looks very serious, Andy Tijs looks drunk.

shaun  said about 2 years ago:

Oooh, issue 1 is the only one I don't have. Give it here, Block!!

Derryn Hinch  said about 2 years ago:

Hinch M&N columns – which have been appearing on these pages for more than two days – will be more sporadic in future. The reason? The Editor of the Mess and Noise sacked me. My crime? I signed a contract with Faster Louder for stories and photos of my engagement to Chanel Hayton and our wedding.
I wasn’t aware that when a defunct magazine hired you to write 1000 opinionated words about politics, or crime or life that they assumed they owned every inch of your private life and private thoughts. But as I said to Danny “You’re the editor. It’s your call.” Thanks for the lend of the hall – as they say in vaudeville. Lolfail!
