OLMSTED TOWNSHIP -- Two people with the Australian band Electric Jellyfish are dead after a crash on the Ohio Turnpike Thursday morning. Three others were rushed to area hospitals.

The crash happened in Olmsted Township just east of State Route 10, just as the SUV crossed into Cuyahoga County from Lorain.

The Highway Patrol says the van was traveling in the east bound lanes when somehow the driver lost control.

The state highway patrol believes three of the occupants are from Australia.

Troopers say they have passports from there and which indicate the occupants arrived in the United States from Australia in September.

The five appeared to be part of band called the ''Electric Jellyfish''.

According to MySpace, the group had a show in Detroit Wednesday night, and was scheduled to play in New York City Friday night.

Their instruments and musical gear had to be picked up off the highway following the accident. Troopers say both of the deceased were wearing their seatbelts.

No identities have been released. The condition of the other injured victims are not yet known.

another report:

Olmsted Township -- Two members of an obscure Australian rock band died Thursday morning on the Ohio Turnpike after their vehicle crashed trying to avoid a deer.

An Electric Jellyfish musician, 23, and his 26-year-old wife from California died at the scene, said Lt. John Maxse, head of the State Highway Patrol's Milan post.

The woman, who worked as the band's photographer, was driving and her husband was sitting directly behind her. Both were wearing seat belts, Maxse said.

Three other band members were taken to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland and were not seriously injured, he said. Music equipment, including an amplifier and at least one guitar, were scatted along the road.

The 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe was eastbound about 5:40 a.m. when it struck a guardrail. The vehicle, he said, went across the highway and overturned off the left side of the roadway and struck a concrete barrier.

The group had been in the United States for less than a month and had upcoming shows in Boston, Atlanta and North Carolina.

The band played psychedelic music and was traveling from Detroit to Brooklyn, N.Y. to perform Friday night, according to the group's MySpace page.

Brendan Walsh hired the band to perform last week at O'Leaver's Pub in Omaha, Neb. He said the group performed for about 40 minutes and put on a good show.

Will the Gorn be present? Subspace scanners revealed it may be back in Medical due to post-surgery infection.

Top speech on Fri nite, Pat. That's how I remembered Hayden.

''Talkin'. Walkin' away. Walkin'.'' - The first EJ song I heard at La Trobe band comp. I thought it was a winner but at nearly every gig I would ask the gents to play it & they, H in particular, would laugh in protest.

Anyways...
