For those who don't know who he is, He's a friken Genius at blissed out drug tones, 80's blues psyche and all round mind expansion.
Best know for his work with the legendary cult band SPACEMEN 3, Sonic Boom A.K.A Pete Kember has hinted at a national tour with his band Spectrum, who sound a lot like Spacemen 3, in Mid 2008, and I for one, am extreamly excited.
my reasons for starting this, was to see how many folks would actauly go see Spectrum when and IF they come to OZ?
And what size room 'you reck'n they'd play?
Melbs, I'd probably say the corner would be about right.
Who would support too?
I'm trying to help him out a bit, so any idea's would be good.

wonder if the australian spectrum will support.
I saw this Spectrum a few months ago:
They were actually pretty good for a bunch of old guys.
Snap anon.
Well, snapish.
Yeah, Fuck that off, post that shit in the OTHER spectrum thread.
I'd certainly go.
Would he feel uncomfortable playing at Spectrum in Sydney? Would it be a bit like wearing your own band's t-shirt?
holy moley!
AWESOME!
Spectrum in Sydney is too small for this much force.
+ All those Soft cock sydney psyce scene dudes would fill it in sec's.
when when when?
how much how much how much?
Starstream would surly be the best support in Aust.
whoahh
(i can sense the usual suspects clamouring for the support already)
qua/mountains in the sky/flying scribble for support?
So, do you prefer Sonic or Jason Spaceman, JP?
nope - bridezilla
only kidding ;)
nitocris will reform for the event
corner would be good
but definitely a place with a seriously decent PA
half-decent woulnd't cut it here
(like that shit sound for sigur ros at the palais... pfft)
Hard Question ,Ubu, but I'd have to say Sonic.
I prefer his side of Recurring + I don't really like Spirtualized.
Forum would be the best
But I'm just not sure he's got that kind'a pulling power.
In fact, I'm pretty sure he doesn't.
Well, Spiritualized only played the Metro - and didn't sell it out last time, from memory. Or did they do two shows? Hm. Perhaps the Annandale then.

Many bands could profit from this approach.
Aparently I have the best smoke in aust too.
Did he visit South Australia? Such assertions cannot be made without robust empirical evidence.
Ha ha. Poor Bassman.
When I said ''Mystic Morning is a great song, you can't say he can't play bass or sing!''
He took it back, and agreed with me.
I've been racking my brain to remember what the Kraftwerk song was Pete did on Sunday night. It's on the tip of my brain, but can't quite reach. Help!
Hall Of Mirrors
Of course. Thanks JP. I was trying to find a German version of that song.
awesome.
It was a highlight of both the sets I saw.
I felt like a twat when I asked him what his new song was called.
Don't own any Kraftwerk me self, thats on the list now though.
AFTER THE STATES THOUGH....jesus I hate this saving business.
It was cool that he DJ'd a heap of stuff off Spacelines at the NSC too.
Rolf Harris, haha...
too good.
i'll hook you up with some krauty goodness, JP. shame i missed sonic. such is my lot at the moment.
There are several versions of Spectrum doing Hall Of Mirrors on youtube
That'd be cool Kandos.
Should have called you on Sunday, as Kris and the crew had door spots, and didn't come.
Oh well. Such is life.
yeah. i was gonna call you while you were on the road, but i was feeling pretty ratshit sunday night. we'll have to catch up this week - have some beer and play some rekkids.
You're on!
Another funny,
I live close to a Salvos which gets large dumps of stuff out the front of a weekend.
Pete kept coming home with random things from out the front, like a weird 'boobs' looking red boul, a leather jacket for his lady and some snazzy leather boots that actualy fit her.
Just got an email asking if I could post them off to the UK for them.
Jesus christ.....
crack up.
Mmmmm....boob bowl!
1 more, then I'll shut it.
I was talking to Miss Boom and she asked what was my fave Sonic song, it was quite loud at the time, but I said
'' I love you''
then she go's
''What?!''
'' I SAID 'I LOVE YOU!'..........Ummm...well, not like that, not yet anywho, we only just met''
Laughs all round.
Sorry, I'll shut up now.
I just saw spectrum at ATP new York, amazing stuff.
