does exactly what it says on the tin.

i'm seeing them tomorrow, with support from seasick steve and reverand and the makers.

i'm really looking forward to it.

love, love, is a verb...

Godzilla  said about 4 years ago:

who makes up massive attack these days?

I loved the 1st three albums but nothing has really grabbed me since.

Reverb  said about 4 years ago:

no idea to be honest.

it'd be interesting to see who they have providing vocals tomorrow.

PsychedelicSounds  said about 4 years ago:

shit band.

Godzilla  said about 4 years ago:

Weather Underground is the current working title for the fifth studio album from UK band Massive Attack. Artists currently believed to be contributing to the vocals for the album include Tunde Adebimpe, Hope Sandoval, Dot Allison, Horace Andy, Mike Patton, Damon Albarn and Mos Def.

If they have a few of them, it'll be a treat

__v  said about 4 years ago:

agree with the first three albums being superior

feel they were greatly diminished by mushroom's departure and the subsequent lack of creative tension in the group

not sure they ever nailed their live show - there was a time after protection when they were kind of half sound system and half live band - that was pretty good

the mezzanine shows were pretty excellent but also the beginning of a regrettable session musician-ification - the 1000th window tour was pretty awful really, some terrible faux-soul diva vocally kicking the shit out of Unfinished Sympathy - ponytailed keyboard players getting all posey

although Dot Allison was cute

Reverend and The Makers = Poos

anonymous  said about 4 years ago:

yeah 100th window wasn't exciting ,but the stuff before that is great, mezzanines still a great record.

im curious to here what happens next though, there was a single floating around a bit back which sounded a return to form of sorts.

Nothing will match Mezzanine.

__v  said about 4 years ago:

i'm kinda glad i never saw them have a go at Protection live - i kinda wanted them to, but it's one of my absolute top couple of favourite songs ever so to hear a shitty diminished version would have been heartbreaking

apparently Everything But The Girl play it sometimes

hm

Reverb  said about 4 years ago:

If you get the chance to see em i wouldnt bother

reverand and the makers blew em off the stage and seasick steve owned the whole night

tinyman  said about 4 years ago:

if you dig Mezzanine, i reckon you'd dig the instrumental soundtrack Danny the Dog/Unleashed too.

drugshakehands  said about 4 years ago:

the claustrophobia and introspection is one of the integral aspects of massive attack, i don't think i could ever cope with seeing them with other people. i actually don't think i've ever listened to a massive attack song with another person.

littlearch  said about 4 years ago:

er i'd like to draw the court's attention to blue lines, farfarfar superior record

shhh  said about 4 years ago:

i heard 'unfinished sympathy' on the radio the other day and thought it had really stood the test of time

TagoMago  said about 4 years ago:

Blue Lines is great. Love the atmosphere on that record. I get this Taxi-Driver score vibe from it.

Yep, absolutely amazing album.

I was suprised to see you like them rach... and then I remembered being suprised about the exact same thing about two years ago.

littlearch  said about 4 years ago:

ha, yes i know, it's surprising, but it happened via staying up far too late and watching rage, and falling in love with the singles

i like tricky too, OMG!

yokesthetenth  said about 4 years ago:

I decided to use only one ''r'' when writing surprising and I don't know why. Wasn't even a typo, I did it twice. hmmm.

Full interview with Daddy G for The Vine here

The last Massive Attack album [100th Window] was released 7 years ago. What kind of changes have you noticed in that time about releasing music?

Well, I’ve got two nephews. I watch their activities. As far as they’re concerned, they’re not interested in paying for anything. If they can download something - a game, or a bit of music - then they will. Nowadays, it’s virtually impossible to sell music. That’s why you have to give away more than you want, really, to attract people to your site. There’s got to be a total interaction there with people all over the world, because anyone can download anything now, but it’s a case of creating something or doing something that people want to own. That’s the hardest bit. [laughs]

tinyman  said about 1 year ago:

the official massive attack forums are a mess to navigate. can someone please point me to a typical recent live tracklisting?

tinyman  said about 1 year ago:

oh. nice one. interesting site. could be a resource i'll be revisiting.

i actually wasted a minute or two earlier thinking ''tracklisting''? that's not the right word when it's live.

Hernandez45  said about 1 year ago:

amazing show last night, the new stuff sounded great live and a lightshow to rival most.

whatwhat  said about 1 year ago:

what time are massive attack likely to go on in adelaide tonight if the doors open at 7pm?

who's the support?

Hernandez45  said about 1 year ago:

Last night they were on at 8.40 and finished at 10.30, support was martina topley bird who does vocals for them later on

tinyman  said about 1 year ago:

be there early. Martina's set is worth it.

NiteShok  said about 1 year ago:

Their Brisbane show tonight was astounding. A 9.5/10 for me. The best show I've seen since Spiritualized at the Barbican Theatre in December. Wow. Review to come.

nishiki  said about 1 year ago:

excellent show in canberra on friday night. everyone was in frighteningly good form. and everyone looked pretty happy and not like they hated each other, which i think was the best bit. i think i even saw 3d smile. martina has a freakishly perfect voice.

whatwhat  said about 1 year ago:

tops in adelaide too.

An audience recording, but a very good one. Regular visitors will know I’m very fussy with the quality of such things so don’t be put off by the fact it’s an audience recording.
