Casey Stoner, based on current points gains etc, looks likely to win the MotoGP title at the Japan round on Sunday the 23rd September.
In recognition of this (likely!) event, I've organised to have the Station Hotel in Prahran booked for the afternoon.
I'm organising a bunch of pro riders (including 2004 Australian Superbike Champion Adam Fergusson) to come along to chat about the season and the race, then we'll watch the race on the myriad of projectors and big screens available.
We may have drink to celebrate...
He only needs 15 more points than Rossi, I think it's likely to Happen at Phillip Island. Will totally make up for loosing the 250 crown to Pedrosa there a couple of years ago. I cried so bad when he crashed out whilst leading. Go Casey, Go Chris!!
that chris vermeulen pic looks like he's lost it! the wheels' higher than his knee!
This weekend:
Do the math Mexican- If Casey wins and Rossi is outside the top 6 this weekend- then the title is Casey's. If not, then it's only put back a week. Casey's points lead increases as the available points diminishes.
It will be Japan. Please God let it be so!
he's so cute
US GP - the corkscrew...!
Yeah, I've done it. I think Rossi's going to be on it this weekend. They got some good rubber out of the Misano tests and I'm sure even if Casey wins, Rossi will be in the top 5. This all depends of course on whether or not Rossi's new engine doesn't shit itself again. Either way, GO CASEY!!!!
bold impact is the worst font ever.
go stoner, im not really that interested but he seems like a stand up guy.
Yeah, I know. I'm not a designer. wanna make an easy $50 and redo it for me?
I didn't know anything about this bloke until the paper article today. I think he is a true legend thanks to this........
From Maitland to Monaco, discipline is another key to the Casey Stoner story. While his neighbours might be down at the casino or clubbing, he'll be at home with his wife Adriana, 18, whom he famously first met four years ago at a Phillip Island race meeting when she asked him to sign her stomach.
thomasr-is there any reason way australia raises so many MotoGp champs!?!
There are a few...
1 Dirt bikes.
All the current top Aussies et their start on dirt bikes. This makes them handy when the tyres go off, or when it's raining. Plus they love a bit of elbow to elbow agro.
European bike racers generally never start on dirt- they start on mini moto road bikes.
2 No Help
Aussie riders do not get much help from home or sponsors in Europe. They learn to live in a shoe box, eat two minute noodles, and then go out and win. Their careers hang on every race, so they ride accordingly.
Contrast with Sete Gibernau who only performed at Spanish (home) races, then slacked for the rest of the year.
3 Home series
The Oz superbikes (and support races) are super competative. While the bikes are not as fast as Europe or the USA (due to restrictions), the racing is hell close and if you took the top five in Oz supers to the world stage (be it MotoGP/World Supers/US Supers), they would more than likely be top five again.
4 Hard nuts
The Oz racers come from a culture that makes 'em harden the fuck up.
So it's looking pretty good for Casy securing the championship at Motegi. It would be better to have it happen at Phillip Island, but either way, it's pretty much his to loose.
Great race yesterday. Glad Rossi won and not Pedro. I am betting Pedro's pretty cut that Casey is going to beat him to the MotoGP crown. Makes up for Casey loosing the 250 title to him..
Re jigged poster per Blake's complaint about IMPACT font.
Have giveaways (tickets) Superbike racers, V8 Supercar drivers, GRID GIRLS! (WOW!), multiple screens, the GP CEO, and others. It's going to be HUGE!
Tomorrow from midday- race @ 3pm!
I will be there in spirit!
I miss my bike so much! :( Just three more days until I can ride again!
(go Rossi!)
he won
good on the lil stoner!!!!!!!
I have never been so pleased to be so wrong.
MotoGP champion in 2007, what a day- what an INSANE race today.

Next year, Fya won't be sitting down to pee. he will finally be a man.
Must be getting time to go for a M&N ride surely?
yes, it is almost time. We need this weatehr to hold.
A sunday St Andrews/kinglake/healesville etc beckons. I am doing a sunday afternoon segment from the road, so this might be ideal...
This sounds like a plan. Could throw in Chum Creek and Toolangi and it makes for a good ride day.
hmmm yes. I think I will trot out the new Speed triple that day. It's white.
OH they look so very very horn in white. Especially with the single underbelly mounted arrow can. I saw someone riding one the other day. I beleive it had red rim tape as well and it just looked the dogs ballocks.
Oh man, the white Speed Triple turns me on. Srsly.

Anyway, name the time and I'll be there.
Just you wait!
