NAKED ON THE VAGUE : THE BLOOD PRESSURE SESSIONS AVAILABLE NOW.

Following from last years self-titled single, Naked On The Vague’s debut album, ‘The Blood Pressure Sessions’, dives deep into a world of apocalyptic pop and psychedelic weirdness... Lucy and Matthew’s disparate vocals grip onto stabbing keys and menacing hook-laden basslines, pushed on by an unrelenting drum machine far past the end of its warranty period. Essentially this is a ‘punk’ assault packaged into nine distinct tracks that range from some almost dance-able short and sharp ‘hits’ to gloomy extended freak-outs. Taking direction from where the short lived no-wave movement ended Naked On The Vague expand on what that imploded scene could have garnished had it not succumbed to its own fatalistic shortcomings.

The album is being launched at the great new Oxford Art Factory in Darlington. NOTV will off coarse be playing live along with special guests Say Cheese & Die, Castings, Rand & Holland / Moonmilk big band. all this + dj's smallcock and bambi and the bambis, dualplover distro stall with bargains galore, on the 12TH Oct @ OXFORD ART FACTORY 42 OXFORD ST, DARLINGHURST doors 8pm Live music til Midnight. $10

For a very limited time from now until the launch online dualplover customers will be able to buy the new album for a mere AUD$10 on our myspace page or at our website.

shaun  said about 1 year ago:

interesting thread, this one.

emmy hennings  said about 1 year ago:

Great fucking lineup. What a cracker. October is gonna be so good in Sydney, gig-wise. 'Bout bloody time.

shaun  said about 1 year ago:

I really hope someone records this Moonmilk+R&H collab. The one at the Pitz a while back was fantastic.

trafficsounds  said about 1 year ago:

i think i might try and get some proper audio gear for recording the r&h thing so i can play on t-r. shaun, the seaworthyii thing came out ok but i positioned it kinda badly so there's way too much talking in the background and the music is not loud enough. just like if you were at a real show, and a whole bunch of talkers were standing right behind you...

shaun  said about 1 year ago:

you could sell that as Bar Broadway Field Recording feat. Seaworthy + ii

humanityisthedevil  said about 1 year ago:

Gotta pick this one up. Busy folks!

dualpLOVER  said about 1 year ago:

shaun  said about 1 year ago:

from what i can tell, yes. provided they are not sold out. if you register, some wristbands can guarantee entry as far as i can tell. but frankly, i'm doublechecking on those deets for myself anyways.

dearcliche!  said about 12 months ago:

OK well that's good to know. It seems hard to find out really... I think it's best to talk to an 'experienced' SXSWer!

SKYSCRAPER REVIEW Australia’s underground scene might be known internationally for its blazing punk rock (The Saints, The Birthday Party, X), and that stuff’s great, but an equally astounding scene of arty weirdoes came up in the late seventies and early eighties, where names such as SPK, the Slugfuckers and Systematics churned out some of the best D.I.Y. music of the decade. Naked on the Vague are as clear a torchbearer of this tradition that I’ve ever heard, as ‘The Blood Pressure Sessions’ is a gorgeous, disconcerting event that grows deeper and more addicting with each listen. Sirens wail, drum machines wheeze out simplistic taunts, and old keyboards blow their cowebs in the listener’s face throughout each of the tracks contained within. Imagine Young Marble Giants in a post-Internet landscape and you’ve got an idea of what Naked on the Vague have achieved. This is the type of noise that compels people to cut themselves, writhe on the floor, dance and laugh, all within the same moment. Iwasn’t even looking for a new band to absolutely flip my lid, but I found that with Naked on the Vague. Allegedly, ‘The Blood Pressure Sessions’ will be pressed to vinyl by Siltbreeze later this year, and I will certainly be first in line.

New NAKED ON THE VAGUE tape out now.

'The Mickey Mouse Headache Tapes' on NEAR TAPES $5 PLUS POSTAGE

'A live collage by apocalyptic pop duo Naked on the Vague. Mostly bits and pieces of live recordings made whilst on their recent 3 month mega tour of the good ol' USA March-June 2008. It also features some sections from a show recorded in Canberra Australia sometime mid 2007. C-30 cassette, 2 long tracks, meshed 'scary' music more on the industrial/psych side of the NOTV brain, perfect for goth art students films, and late night drives through the bush'- NEAR TAPES

'Limited cassette from this excellent Australian psych/wave group with a major LP on Siltbreeze. This one kinda functions as their Sonic Death, with a bunch of live recordings, extended freak-outs and druggy dub environs collaged together for maximum confusion. More elaborately fucked than their LP and all the better for it'- VOLCANIC TONGUE
