It's on again soon... Sept 20-30. I'm a bit excited. Woodchopping, rides, showbags, food, yeah.
Not sure if the bands for the town square have been decided upon, but apparently Mental as Anything are playing at some stage.

Rad.
I can continue my tradition of seeing Mental as Anything only at public street festivals (last time was St. Kilda festival circa 2000).
i havn't been in years, im determined to get there this one.
Will still go see one of the bands, but will probably skip the whole show thing as they stuffed it up with the rennovations.
i've never been. is it worth it?
I'm excited this year. I want to play moon patrol at the arcade.
BERTIE BEETLE!
Some will say yes, others will say no. If you like crowds, queues, woodchopping, animals, art and craft, rides, food, drink etc, the answer is ''maybe.'' So yes, it's probably worth going so that you at least know if you like it or not.
I hope somebody brings the rocket fuel.
The arcades weren't there last year, or at least I couldn't find them. No Mad Mouse either.
The bands last year were good. I went twice :)
i like all those things except crowds and queues.
I sooooooooooo want to go, it's an Aussie tradition, one of our few true festivals that represent our culture and history...I was always asked by students in Japan what are Australian Festivals, so I said The Royal Show and Moomba. I couldnt think of any religious festivals, just one thats all about showbags and rides and one that means ''up your Bum'' or something.
showbags and rides as well, fun for kids of all ages.
Showbag pavillion is open until late, remember that if you are going to be there all day to try and avoid the crowds to get into the pavillion.
i want to go this year.
hmm, i need a permit to park my car in my street when there are events at the show grounds...better get on to that.
STICKS AND POPS
cool. No arcades? bummer. Showbags excellent. I've been saving for two years for this day at show.
''Cooking, baking, basting all the while!''
My tinsel wig is looking worse for wear, time to get a new one.
Awesome! Woodchopping, angsty teenage artwork, and winning crappy plastic toys while playing the clowns AHOY!
I want someone to swing that hammer thing and ding the bell and win me a giant stuffed Freddo Frog, or something.

I remember school excursions! And one time my school band played there and we got free rides all day as long as we kept in uniform... but it was raining so it was a toss-up: stay dry, or free rides, that's FREE rides! (How much do rides cost these days?)
I figure it's at least a decade since I last went, so I may be up to accompany you, Kuroneko. Grand Final Day sounds like a plan, so as to minimise strangers contact potential.
Yeah grand final day sounds perfect. Have they released the showbag list yet?
There's a list on the website. Most expensive is Grand Ridge Brewery at $250.
I think the guide comes out in the herald sun on Sept 13, and the weekly times a few days before that.

I'm all over that.
After the Melbourne is the Geelong show, and after that was (is?) Gala Day, where drunk 15 year-olds get their last dollar squeezed out of them by Carnies on the Cha-Cha and old showbags are gotten rid of. I wonder what the Ricci's Bikkies Turkish Bread would be like by that stage?
More like fezzied on the ghost train. What is it with people who use dress ups as a gateway to molestation?
Ace
where's the chemist showbag? It's not there!!!!!
A friend of my parents was riding the chair lift once when they were little and dropped their ice cream onto a car at a car showroom, the owners were waiting at the other end. Also one time my dad's friends punched the bloke in the gorilla costume in the guts in a ghost train and ran away (might have been at a different show.)
The show is depressing. Hundreds of dollars spent by families to walk around all day fighting with their kids and worrying about money.
FUCK THE SHOW.
RAGE!
I feel sorry for the cows.
The cows in the burgers that people eat at the show or the show cows?
Oh, both equally.
They were a great band.
It worked out better when their lead singer, Henry, went solo, though.
Well, I thought it was funny.
That's so bizarre!
