Los Campesinos!

astralwerkor  said about 1 year ago  or at  12:35AM on Friday, August 3 2007.

Glaswegian band that has been garnering a lot of blog attention and critical acclaim of late. Kinda happy, mid 90s indie pop style, but I get a tinge of Wolf Parade and bands of that ilk in them too. Anybody else into them? Quite good. Got an EP out at the moment called Sticking Fingers Into Sockets.

i was trying to download that ep on slsk, but there were 500 people in the queue in front of me.

i guess they're getting some hype at the moment?

You throw parties, we throw knives

!! I hate their name (is it meant to mean something??) and the name of most of the songs but I don't mind them, they're quite fun

astralwerkor  said about 1 year ago:

Its funny, because they're on tour with You Say Party! We Say Die! right now. Wonder if there is some weird song/band/time/space/continuum cross-over thing going on. Or not...

carlos esq  said about 1 year ago:

Hmm...I think they're OK in a slightly irritating way. Kind of like a highly-charged AiH. I like the ideas behind the songs more than the actual songs.

They've signed to Arts & Crafts in North America, haven't they?

Not sure, but they're on Wichita in the UK.

astralwerkor  said about 1 year ago:

Yep yep yep...Oh, and they are on A+C in the US.

astralwerkor  said about 1 year ago:

Yep...

blake3030  said about 1 year ago:

Didn't really dig what i heard.

Cooperative Music  said about 1 year ago:

They're not from Glasgow.

They'll be released on Cooperative/ Shock here. Album's due at the end of the year.

astralwerkor  said about 1 year ago:

Silly me, I did mean to say Cardiff. Honestly... :P

urchinmink  said about 1 year ago:

I've loved what I've heard - just the kind of up-beat cutesy jump-around pop that I like. Esp. 'you me dancing'.

zadie  said about 1 year ago:

glaswegian? as a word even?

very much highly charged aih, makes me feel like doing this to something irritatingly happy

astralwerkor  said about 1 year ago:

Yes Glaswegian is a word. But alas they're not from there, so I retract that statement.

astralwerkor  said about 1 year ago:

Got my CD today, and I love it. Still, too much listening to this sugar-coated pop and I would probably want to kill a bunny rabbit too..

astralwerkor  said about 1 year ago:

High rotation for the last three weeks. Apparently I can't get enough of the sugar-coated pop. Love it...

vid for the International tweexcore underground

these guys are so hip it hurts...

astrousersasmind  said about 1 year ago:

They're totally awesome! I was listening to their EP again last night (well actually the 6 songs you've been able to download which is essentially the EP), love it to bits. Even after a year still so infectiously good. But then I do have a poster for The Go! Team for my icon so I would like these guys. They're obsessed with Pavement and you can hear it.

astrousersasmind  said about 1 year ago:

You just can't deny ''It's you, it's me, it's dancing!''

astralwerkor  said about 1 year ago:

I like the new song. I hate the lead singers haircut, even though it gives faith to all us strawberry blonders that hipness will not elude us forever...

Reverb  said about 1 year ago:

god, the E.P is excellent!

This album has really grown on me, its just a good fun pop album with some very funny lyrics. I like it, though still not quite as much as the EP.

carlos esq  said about 9 months ago:

I'm with the haters on this one - utterly annoying band.

astralwerkor  said about 9 months ago:

Bound to polarise opinion. Just too much too muchness for some.

nyx  said about 9 months ago:

I think Death to Los Campesinos! is my favourite track on the album to tell the truth.

They seem well aware of their haters.

astralwerkor  said about 9 months ago:

I think mine is This Is How You Spell, ''HAHAHA....etc etc'''.

astralwerkor  said about 9 months ago:

My Year In Lists is fucking fantastic. Man, I don't think I've come across one person yet who has unreservedly liked this band as much as me. The majority I've spoken to hate hate HATE it, and the rest are slightly into it/slightly irritated. Oh well.

astralwerkor  said about 9 months ago:

Didn't think anyone cared. :P

tadatadatada  said about 9 months ago:

i like my year in lists the best, ,

astralwerkor  said about 9 months ago:

Oh, someone does. :-)

nyx  said about 9 months ago:

I just opened my playlist and it opened to ''C is the Heavenly Option''. I appreciate.

astralwerkor  said about 7 months ago:

I <3 Los Campesinos!

astralwerkor  said about 7 months ago:

This is both very cute and somewhat disturbing. I like the enthusiasm of these kids. Maybe I love them because I have the mind of a pubescent teenage girl...

Tramdriver  said about 6 months ago:

For someone reason I think this band has slipped past my defences- CUNCE! Kinda like 'em.

astralwerkor  said about 5 months ago:

New album in October! Woohoo!

astralwerkor  said about 1 month ago:

So, the new album is out. Is it getting a release in Aus? Anyone?

Tramdriver  said about 1 month ago:

Bueller?

tenrapid  said about 1 month ago:

anorakhighst  said about 1 month ago:

Apparently the new album is getting one pressing worldwide, and then that's it. It's also a glossy box with a CD, a DVD and some badges.

anok  said about 1 month ago:

worst band in the history of music

nyx  said about 1 month ago:

Don't be a hater anok. There has been a lot of music in the whole history of music,
