Wasn't it on their website he issued the apology? Weak.

history  said about 5 years ago:

Couldn't find it on the website just now.

Anyway what the hell were they thinking?!

poprocks96  said about 5 years ago:

It;s that idiot that took KRudd to the strippers....

poprocks96  said about 5 years ago:

''Last week, we made a mistake. We ran a cartoon that offended many people,'' Murdoch said on Tuesday in a statement on the website of his tabloid The New York Post, which printed the cartoon.

Block  said about 5 years ago:

I don't get it. Is Murdoch that dumb he thought comparing Obama to a mad chimp was OK? Surely he didn't personally approve it?
Did some editor get fired over this shit?

paulie  said about 5 years ago:

haha bush made a great chimp. the chimp gag kinda backfires on obama huh?

poprocks96  said about 5 years ago:

The editor is Col Allan, Block. And no, he did not get fired.

paulie  said about 5 years ago:

hang on, that's not a chimp gag, what the fuck is that? a rodney king gag? i don't get it.

Block  said about 5 years ago:

Peter Allan's brother?
Wow, what a talented family.

poprocks96  said about 5 years ago:

I think it was trying to say that the chimp could come up with a stimulus package as good as Obama's? However, comparing a black man to a monkey is not cool.

I know that from Andrew Symonds.

Reverb  said about 5 years ago:

I don't think there was any serious racial intent with the cartoon, just extreme ignorance and naivety

paulie  said about 5 years ago:

newspaper cartoonists would be aware of the connotations of a monkey, and the pairs of eyes that this went past before being put to press, it's hard to put it down to ignorance.

i still don't get it. did the cop accidentally shoot the monkey? his lip is quivering. if you were shooting monkeys, surely you'd go out to the jungle. what's the monkey doing on the footpath like that, being shot by beat cops?

Block  said about 5 years ago:

See here for some sort of context, paulie.

paulie  said about 5 years ago:

ah right.

i still don't get it.
