New band featuring Nick (Oneironaut), Sean (The Grand Silent System / School of Emotional Engineering), and James (Season).

We're still writing tunes, so far as a three piece. The snippets up on the myspace page are instrumental but there are plans for singing in due course. We will also be adding further instrumentation to the music including Cello, Trombone, and Keyboards.

Think along the lines of (and some bands that we like):
Swervedriver, ISIS, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Fugazi, , Swans, Kyuss, Helmet, At The Drive-In, Bowery Electric, My Bloody Valentine, ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead, The Mars Volta, Trans Am, Soundgarden, Battles, The Flaming Lips, Polvo, Turing Machine, Sonic Youth, June of 44, The Secret Machines.

THE BLACK HUNDRED play their first show:

Saturday September 23rd @ Pony
w/ Radiant City & Rhythm Bell

I'll get Nick onto it... i know it's a pain for anyone with dial up such as me.. though I will be on broadband next week. woo!

We will be doing a "7 rekkid too...

as soon as we've got a couple more songs finished we're recording with Nao Anzai to 16 track 2" tape. mmmmmm delicious.

sounds cool. remind me in september!

McGauz  said about 5 years ago:

will do. there'll be another thread by Brad, being a Radiant City gig, no doubt.

TransientRandom  said about 5 years ago:

hi james (season)!

it sounds rad. way to namecheck my fave bands! (who says "bowery electric" these days? i'm gonna have to pull it out tonight.) i wish i could listen at wrrrrk.

is it slow and atmospheric? you should tour sydney and make negative money, spend up big in backwards land (but go to the toilet before you get there).

McGauz  said about 5 years ago:

hi kate (heaps of bands)! :)

you'll have to listen some other time.. there's a couple of slower songs, but it's more rock than either of mine or Nick's previous bands. I'm on Bass this time, and we're letting it all fly.

We'll be up in Sydney and Newcastle before the end of the year.

marcusb  said about 5 years ago:

sounds pretty awesome! the two rock tracks especially!

McGauz  said about 5 years ago:

yeah, there's only much you can take of atmosphere eh? Can't wait to get some vocals happening. Fuck I miss lyrics.

listen to "Variations..." too mB all the way through.. starts off slow.. but has a chunky distorted ending. Some of Nick's playing blows me away.

this stuff is pretty rad dude!
lets play together!

McGauz  said about 5 years ago:

HAving a listen, nice!

McGauz  said about 1 year ago:

thanks dude! spread the word ;) need to get the tunes out into the world somehow, and currently being without a live band to support release with shows doesn't help.

McGauz  said about 1 year ago:

new news:

Underlapper and All India Radio have recently returned remixes, and both sounding lovely!

The album is now available on UK label Shifting Sounds' online store (digitally.. no cd yet).

whale, I shall be in touch!

any thoughts on who/where I should send stuff to would be appreciated. Being no CD, I can send download codes etc for review or radio stuff. Owen McKern on RRR and Raven have both downloaded and played on their shows, which is ace, so it's obviously easy for radio folks to do. Handy that.

just heard you on RRR. Sounded great, Jim!

McGauz  said about 1 year ago:

thanks dude! that was one of the remixes by Chris Sprake (who used to, not sure if he still does, play around town under the title 'TOFA'). Loved what he did with it.

mrb  said about 1 year ago:

sounded beautiful.

crash!  said about 1 year ago:

cigs please

McGauz  said about 1 year ago:

gigs won't happen for at least 6 months, soz :) once we figure out how to play our songs live, and get some other people together - and have enough material for a set.

We're aiming to get 3 new songs out in November though!
