Homebake 2007 Over 18's Only

goldbuttons  said about 3 years ago  or at  9:47PM on Tuesday, July 24 2007.

From FasterLouder:

*Homebake began in 1996 and has been a platform for showcasing our best local talent ever since.

This year’s has been confirmed for the eighth of December and the event will once again be held at The Domain in Sydney’s Botanical Gardens. However, Homebake 2007 will be different to all that have gone before. The festival will no longer be an all-ages event and will take on the theme of It’s the ladies Domain. The organiser’s are blaming the discrimination on “increasingly strict licensing laws”.

For those fans lucky enough to have been born before 1989, Homebake HQ will make the first line-up announcement towards the end of the month*

Interesting. Go forth & discuss

meh doesn't really worry me whether it's over 18 or not... but way to get on the bad side of a lot of eager 17 year olds...

line up yet???

goldbuttons  said about 3 years ago:

doesn't say anything about the lineup.. when does it usually get announced?

aloha  said about 3 years ago:

it's the ladies domain? what the hell does that mean?

switchbladesisters  said about 3 years ago:

maybe Deborah Conway is playing

goldbuttons  said about 3 years ago:

I remain baffled.

unvisible  said about 3 years ago:

Kids have ample opportunities to see the Standard Homebake Lineup elsewhere.

ladyinred  said about 3 years ago:

ahahaha i think you just posted the answer and i didn't read it.

''first line-up annoucement towards the end of the month.''

T J Honeysuckle  said about 3 years ago:

Come on, people, come on. You don't need them to announce it.
What are the odds the line up will include either Wolfmother or Jet, Thirsty Merc or Midnight Juggernauts & Katie Noonan, for starters?

ladyinred  said about 3 years ago:

i won't mind if Mid Juggs are there... others i care for very little.

empra  said about 3 years ago:

That sucks. I started going to Homebake when I was 14, and it used to be the highlight of my year. I couldn't go to all ages gigs around the place because I lived too far away, so it was the perfect day to be able to go and see all the bands I wanted to see.

Poor kids....

Poor non-drunk people...

Godzilla  said about 3 years ago:

i started to take my kids to homebake when each of them turned 12.

it set the tone for their relationship with me thru the teen years and has started a continuing appreciation of aussie live music in them.

also meant i never had to give much thought to what to get for xmas.

ladyinred  said about 3 years ago:

Godzilla i wish i had you for a parent.

montyclift  said about 3 years ago:

i think the lady referred to is clover moore.

our beloved lord mayor hates the nuisance of things in the domain. its the council thats changed the entrance to homebake, and why its now such a choke to get into.

this is just making it that little bit harder.

lowercase  said about 3 years ago:

That will be a big problem for the labels who rely on Homebake to push their product to the kids.

Big Day Out will be the wonka golden ticket for bands and labels now. Can't sell loads of product without the kids!

it also leaves the door open for an all ages festival in Sydney too, ala Come Together with a much higher profile lineup.

empra  said about 3 years ago:

it does indeed lowercase. but won't they have the same problems? or could it expose the bullshit reasons given by the homebake peeps?

Ark Shattack  said about 3 years ago:

i started to take my kids to homebake when each of them turned 12.

My dad started taking me to the Big Day Out from when I was 12. :)

Anyway, this is a real shame.

Hazard_Man  said about 3 years ago:

Hmmmm, so this will either mean less maniac midgets getting off their face by midday before they even get there . . . or more boof head gronks causing trouble by the end of the day, blocking my view!!

anonymous  said about 3 years ago:

come together is a different venue/council, so could be under different rules.

(that and luna park/big top already has a license, the festivals just hiring the space, the domains a public space that needs a license applied to it)

the power of 666  said about 3 years ago:

!?!?!??! But the shit's for babies!!!! Prepare not to sell out, because there won't be all the young kids hanging for their live music day, and the gross bogans trying to fuck them.

Yr left with the people who get in for free.

Godzilla  said about 2 years ago:

scallywag  said about 2 years ago:

oh, i heard about ''yet to be announced'' apparently they're at the forefront of the neo-emo scene. good on em for taking out bother the hopetoun and jjj contests

Inactivist  said about 2 years ago:

Sold out. Apparently the kids don't count.

scallywag  said about 2 years ago:

i wonder how sales of pre-mix vodka and fluro novelties will be effected

Mo  said about 2 years ago:

i dunno maybe i am getting old but homebake seems to lose more and more relevence to the younger folks every year....

barring kisschasey....

so maybe they did the right thing in making it over 18's and leaving something a bit more relevant to younger kids to stuff like the come together festival
