qlds also arguably the 2nd biggest drinking state. maybe the lack of brain cells let them come to this conclusion? sorry to be a drainer, just being vaguely sciencey with my tongue in my cheek.
This research was brought to you by XXXX.
you can use facts to prove anything.
One study disproves years of research! In other news, the earth is flat!
well, these guys might agree with you 10101(and so on)

i for one plan plan to celebrate this good news big time on the weeekend......seriously though, some of the smartest people i have known have also been the biggest drinkers.

what's going on there then???
didnt read it.
if alco's not killing my brain cells, then what is?!?!?!
Chances are, some dumbarse reporter didn't understand a word of a presentation given at a neuroscience conference. But had spent all day at the conference and had to have a story by the end of the day. So when Professor Bartlett said something like ''as far as we can tell, alcohol does not have any effect on neural plasticity,'' in reply to a question asked at the end of the conference, referring to its effect on a specific neural mechanism, the reporter took that down, exaggerated it, took it out of context and made it into a story.
it sure does feel like i 've killed 100 billion brain cells after a few drinks sometimes thats for sure.
ok, more than a few.
i like your cynicism hsh! potentially fairly accurate too.
**For years imbibers have been told a big night on the drink wipes out entire sections of human brain cell function with much the same destructive equivalent as a napalm bombing strike.
According to Queensland Brain Institute director Professor Perry Bartlett, this is not true.
There is no evidence drinking alcohol leads directly to the death of brain cells, he said.
''Some of the best studies, done in Italy, show a bottle of wine a night can reduce the risk of dementia in old age,'' Professor Bartlett said. **
heres a bio of PROF Bartlett
sounds pretty legit to me
Thank God. Now I don't have to feel ashamed about having started drinking already. Come on little brain cells..........................
suck shit straight edgers! missin the partay action and you get alzheimers in old age too
Being an alcoholic is not good for your brain cells. The most common way to end up like the guy like Memento (i.e., can't make new memories) is to be an alcoholic.
whose memento?
Memento
yeah, i know hsh, i was taking the piss with the whole memory loss, memento, alcoholism thing.......sorry.
is your name John G crackwhore? If so I'm gonna kill ya.
hahahahahaha......no.
any scientific proof that even slightly validates my lifestyle is fine by me.
alcoholism isn't good for ya noggin, but its good to know that binges are ok
cheers Bugsy
woo hoo! i got totalled last night and right now i feel fine in fact i think im even smarter now than i was yesterday+
Hahahaha. Oh, Bugsy
I'm way ahead of you.
yeah, i read a similar paper a couple of years ago - apparently alcohol can suppress neuroglial proliferation and repair, but doesn't at all effect the intrinsic ability of the cells to perform once the stimulus is removed - it showed that alcoholic neural damage can be histologically reversed upon cessation of drinking.
see how many big words i know, and i'm mostly drunk!
You're here, it's what we do.
Heavy drinkers outlive non drinkers!
moderate drinkers outlive them both.
i really need to get back on red wine instead of beer. last time i did that i lost so much weight.
pot belly is ''in'' at the moment.
as i am usually not ''in'' all the more reason to lose it
awesome.
I knew it!
