Midnight Juggernauts: Europe/South America
Melbourne’s Midnight Juggernauts recently sent us some happy snaps from their “super quick” world tour in April/May. The band played 13 dates in total in Europe and South America. Annotations by VINCENT VENDETTA.
High above Easter Island. Flying OS for a quick pre-album tour across South America and Europe. Rounds of press and meetings, and some fun shows here and there. Looking forward to testing these new songs out and visiting new cities.
Santiago, Chile: before, during and after the show.
Some Melbourne love for Architecture in Helsinki in a South American record store. That's Dale, our tour manager, and fill-in AIH saxophonist.
Sao Paulo, Brazil. Was a mega fun show. The country is beautiful and people here are quite good looking. The food is really good too. Nothing bad I can say about South America. I'll probably move there at some point.
Ilhabela, Brazil. After the Sao Paulo show we took a few days off to hang out and write some more music on a beautiful island called Ilhabela (which coincidentally means “Beautiful Island”).
We ended up getting a boat and basically sailed around until we found a beautiful beach to swim out to. Was pretty awesome. Here's our crew Dale (Monsieur Coconut) and Matt (Captain Morgan) navigating the blue waters. We ended up shooting a movie here as well. I don't think I'll finish the edit because it was actually pretty bad.
Sailing our boat back to our home. It felt like we'd become Duran Duran circa Rio. We'll be releasing our yacht rock tunes from these sessions very soon.
Madrid, Spain. Our most important meetings take place in Airports. Daniel on Skype.
London, UK. Good to be back in London. A quick crowd shot from our show at Koko in Camden. We played Fabric as well, and basically spent the rest of the week catching up with friends and eating Indian food.
Edinburgh, Scotland. Well I think this was Scotland, but I could be wrong. Edinburgh is a pretty town, and this kinda looks more like a power generator in Chernobyl.
Istanbul, Turkey. We're trying to play at more exotic locations now so we can have a holiday at the same time. I'd always wanted to visit Turkey so this was a fun place to play.
Istanbul, Turkey. On the waterfront they don't have sandy beaches, but they do have big rocks with old men sunbathing on cardboard.
Plus they have shooting ranges where you fire rifles and pistols among the beachgoers, as long as you aim for the coloured balloons. Safety regulations are a little more relaxed here.
Istanbul, Turkey. When in Rome, or Istanbul, you gotta go out each night and smoke on one of these. Istanbul is a pretty awesome town. Great people, great food. Five stars!
Amsterdam, Holland. Back in lovely Holland playing Paradiso. I forgot where I parked the boat. Should have just taken the bike.
Paris, France. My POV from behind the mic. I love Paris. We lived here for a little while in 2008 and I really miss this place. Good to catch up with old friends.
Germany? Or could be a basement in Moscow. Here's Daniel teaching some local kids how to drum. Apparently R2-D2 was there as well.
Berne, Switzerland. We somehow fit three shows in the small but very beautiful country of Switzerland. And look, you can actually see real life bears. Here's proof. Cute.
Sunset farewell. That went fast. Farewell Europe. We'll be back for the UK/Euro summer festivals in July. Now back to Australia for well needed rest. Qantas plane take me home.
now with pics!
Awesome photos. I'd like to see more of this style of article!

Looking forward to seeing them at Exit Festival in about a month.
You can't beat shooting guns on the beach. How rock'n'roll!
